Museum of Industrial Culture — Attraction in Nuremberg

This museum is not huge, but it covers a wide range of topics from the field of technological advancements, the industries that rose and fell with them, and how they affected society. The focus is on industries that were represented in Nuremberg. There is a large collection of motorbikes, from the very first ones to as recent as 2010. They have old cars, bicycles, different tools, a gigantic steam engine, some of the very first PCs and more. They have a number of rooms prepared to showcase for example an old class room, shop floors, workers apartments from the time of the industrial revolution and so on. Ich bin von meinem heutigen Besuch vom Museum Industriekultur noch sehr geplättet. Ich habe schon einige duzend Museen besucht. Sowohl in Deutschland als auch im Ausland. Dieses Museum sticht mit seinem ganz besonderen Charm heraus, da es in einer alten Schraubenfabrik untergebracht ist. Die Architektur ist überwältigend, es liegt ein gewisser nostalgischer Duft von harter Industrieller Arbeit von Jahrzehnten in der Luft. Am Beginn der Exponate ist eine Motorradausstellung mit wundervollen Exponaten. Aber wirklich Beeindruckend ist die Ausstellung in der großen Halle. Von einer gigantischen 1100PS Dampfmaschine über ein Motorrad von Ende 1800, über einen Kolonialgemischtwarenladen, einer Arbeiterwohnung, einem Friseur, Vereinskneipe, Zahnartzpraxis, Klassenzimmer um die Jahrhundertwende, alte Haushaltsgeräte, eine alte Druckerrei, Spielekonsolen von den Anfängen bis heute. Hier gibt es ein Sonderprogramm wo zu gewissen Zeiten Kinder (jeder Größe) verschiedene Konsolen und Spiele ausprobieren können.

Auch die Sonderausstellung und die Galerie sind sehr sehenswert. Alles ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail und sehr stimmungsvoll Platziert.

Ich möchte dem Museumteam ein großes Kompliment aussprechen. Dieses Museum kann sich durchaus mit großen Musen wie das Deutsche Museum München oder Elvis Presley Museum in Memphis, Tennessee USA mithalten die zu meinen persönlichen Top 5 zählen.

Besonderen Dank gilt dem Personal, welches sehr zuvorkommend, Freundlich, Fachkundig und Hilfsbereit war.

One of our standard rainy day activities, the museum provides plenty of interesting things to see for both the kids and parents. There is a great hands on laboratory for the kiddoes as you enter the facilities.

In the basement, the fully functional printing press is the highlight (especially for Papa) and is a must see when it is open with people to show how everything works.
