Stopped here briefly after visiting Triburg waterfall. Unfortunately, we spent longer than planned at the waterfall and then looking for somewhere to eat, so we did not spend long at the museum. Some interesting exhibits and dioramas about life in historic Triburg, with focus on industry and society, as well as an emphasis on clocks and the origins of the industry in the area. Some impressive clocks on show. There is a small gift shop, selling trinkets and souvenirs. The main hall features an impressive pipe organ; €5 allows one to listen to its 7 minute long musical offering; relaxing classical-type music. Someone happened to request this while we were there, which is how I heard it. Entry is around €6 for adults and €3 or €4 for kids, I think. There is a dual ticket option when visiting the falls, whereby a museum ticket can also be bought for slightly less than individual prices. Not a bad place to visit but the kids were not too interested, apart from in...
Read moreReally enjoyed an hour here. You could spend a lot longer but there is hardly any information to read (and I mean even in German!), so it's more just wandering around. Lots of old clocks, traditional costumes, and wood carving. Would've loved some context or technical information. A great surprise was the extensive collection of raw minerals/rocks! They looked incredible! So many different types, shapes and bright colours. I loved it. However, like the rest of the museum, NO information to go with it. Was Triberg a big mining area? Don't know. Please add explanations and information to your museum! It's so essential. And make sure it's in English too ;) Also, stop charging 1 euro each to make the different musical organs work (about half of which were 'out of service' - you should also fix that). But most importantly: you have so many great items on display - PLEASE add the information to go with them and bring...
Read moreI speak 0 German. I am an Indian working in France and decided to do a solo trip to the black forest region for my summer. I was fascinated by this museum as I wanted to learn the history of Black forest. After I paid the entry fees, I realized that the all the write ups and even the audio guides are only in German. I was handed a small pamphlet with little English text in it.. It really wasn't enough. I felt that I missed out on a lot. And I was disappointed that I wasn't warned before paying...
