I went to the East Legon branch to purchase dumbbells today and was told that I could not get into the shop. Prior to leaving home, I checked online for the closing time and found it was 8:00 pm. I got to the entrance at 7:29 pm and was told they were closed by an employee who gave his name as Evans. And by the way, he refused to give me his surname when I asked for it. He kept me outside the exit for about 15 mins while I tried to make my point. I felt I did not deserve to be turned away considering I was misled by the information provided online.
When I demanded to speak to his superior, he refused to call him/her, intimating that he had been tasked to turn clients away when they showed up after 7:30 pm. Mind you, I noticed the entrance was locked even before 7:30 pm.
Another employee, who gave his full name as Patrick Amable, however, displayed a completely different attitude and was extremely gracious and polite. He listened and then asked me to give him a few minutes to see if the issue could be resolved.
He came back and explained that even if he let me into the shop, I could not carry out my purchase because they were out of stock. He went further to call the Boundary Road branch to make certain that they had the dumbbells available before suggesting that I consider going there to make my purchase.
I sincerely commend his attitude; I think it is exemplary, and he should be applauded for assisting an aggrieved client.

Read moreI love Melcom and the variety of things they sell. You are most likely to get your needs at this place. It is unfortunate however that a number of their price tags is lower than what you may be charged at the cash point. At one point my final charge was 25% higher than their actual price tag indications. The shop attendant only explained that sometimes the prices on their system are not yet updated with their price tag. I only hope this is not a marketing psychological decoy to get customers to spend more. Aside that they are...
