If you know Mexican food, you will be disappointed unfortunately.
There were various issues with our meal but let me start with the positives:
The decor is nice. Your waiter Emmanuel was lovely and attentive. The tamale was nice. The churros ended the meal on better note.
The negatives:
The tortilla chips and dip was blah. Yhe chips were warm but chewy as if they wrre stale. The Pico de Gallo was mostly onions with 5 tiny pieces of tomato. I understand tomatoes are expensive right now but wow.
We found hair on our food twice. The food arrived too quickly and hence explained why it was cold. An adjacent customer had the same issue. The flavor was lacking. The irony is you sell all the various chillies and seasonings in the mini shop at the entrance. The enchiladas and tamales were swimming in a watery sauce.
The thing that concerned me the most was your bartender was pouring water into the Syrups for drinks and watering them down in plain view. This was sad to see because if someone pays for a cocktail, they shouldn't be cheated. You are charging enough for the drinks.
I know this may get a harsh response from management but I am not a fake and this restaurant has potential to do really well if the food is paid...
Read moreWent on a Sunday for their brunch. First off, they do not have enough seating, and what they have is very uncomfortable. Their staff are badly trained a terribly over worked. We had to wait for an hour forbdrinks and food. This long wait would have been worth it, if the food was good. Unfortunately, the food was awful, terrible. I’ve had Mexican food in Mexico, Texas and even the UK, the food at this restaurant was nothing like authentic Mexican food. The tacos were stale and hard, the bowls of toppings were empty, there was no sour cream or guacamole. When I asked for sour cream, they brought me cooking cream. Who eats Mexican food without guacamole, cheese, and sour cream??. This restaurant is a disgrace, especially since it’s run my a Mexican person. I guess they think Ghanaians don’t know or deserve any better. I would give them minus 5 stars if this was possible. ................... I think the response from the owner is a clear validation of my review. He is as nasty and uncouth as his restaurant and food which gave me an upset stomach as well. He would do well to improve his swful food and service instead of leaving defensive bitter messages to customer reviews. You couldn't pay me to go...
Read moreOur first time visiting La Cocina in 2020 was underwhelming at best. Being a Texan Mexican food is a staple. The food had zero hints of Mexican flavor. We ordered chicken nacho dip and we received a 1.5 oz container of finely minced chicken in a sauce. Honestly I'm not sure chicken was in it but the server insisted there was. Fast forward I've head that they had a new chef with real corn tortillas so we decided to give it another try. This time we ordered the beef taco with 5 corn and 5 flour tortillas. We also ordered a beef quesadilla. We were later told they were out of beef for the quesadilla so we settled on chicken. The beef tacos were good but had potatoes in it. Its supposed to be a pound of beef but 1/2 of it was potatoes... The chicken quesadilla were OK... despite the food not tasting like the Mexican food I'm used to in the US, the good was decent and affordable. So much so we returned 3 days later with more guests to all order beef quesadillas. When the server returned she said they were out of beef... not wanting anything else we left. I may decide to return in the future but will likely all ahead to confirm they have the necessary...
