Katelios village and its lovely beach of the same name are located 29 km from Argostoli. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation and nature lovers, while the coast is recommended for long walks and sunbathing. On the main road of Katelios, one will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish taverns. The beach is partly organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, but unspoiled areas with no facilities are also available. It is covered in a combination of golden sand and pebbles, and its turquoise waters are crystal-clear. A stroll around the village that lies amidst lush green forests with olive groves and lush vegetation in the green valley is quite interesting and refreshing. Some of the historical sights that visitors can explore include the impressive church of the Virgin and the tiny village of Markopoulos, which is built amphitheatrically at a high altitude with a perfect view of the Ionian Sea.

In spite of some drawbacks, this is an excellent beach. True, it's a mixture of sand, stones and bits of seaweeds or trees. True, it's not very wide. It really doesn't matter because the water is just excellent: clear and turquoise, calm, shallow near the coast for kids to play and deeper further away, so you can float and relax. The bottom is pure sand. The beach is not crowded at all and really quiet, so you can rest. The sunbeds are free, curtesy of the Dreamcatcher Taverna nearby. There are turtle's nests on the beach, so you have to set up closer to the shore so that you don't disturb them. Overall, excellent to swim and relax.

Stoney sandy beach but beautiful water with sand as you enter and shallow enough for children to play safely. Beautiful views. Big bonus is free Sun loungers for you to help yourselves to as long as you take them back off the beach at the end of the day and showers and toilets, all courtesy of the nearby taverna with no obligation 😁.

Of all the beaches we visited along the south coast of Kefalonia, this one was the best. It might not be perfect white sands but the swimming is so good - calm warm waters, views of the mountains, and sandy underfoot (with a metre or 2 of rocks at the shore) It is very accessible, you can drive all the way down to the beach (or an east enough walk; not too steep, not too rocky on the track) we were there at the end of august around 1-3pm and it was mostly older local folks just hanging out in the water and having a nice time. Super chilled, no party folks, exactly what we were...
