Katelios village and its lovely beach of the same name are located 29 km from Argostoli. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a family vacation and nature lovers, while the coast is recommended for long walks and sunbathing. On the main road of Katelios, one will find a couple of nice beachfront cafes and fish taverns. The beach is partly organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, but unspoiled areas with no facilities are also available. It is covered in a combination of golden sand and pebbles, and its turquoise waters are crystal-clear.

Read moreIn spite of some drawbacks, this is an excellent beach. True, it's a mixture of sand, stones and bits of seaweeds or trees. True, it's not very wide. It really doesn't matter because the water is just excellent: clear and turquoise, calm, shallow near the coast for kids to play and deeper further away, so you can float and relax. The bottom is pure sand. The beach is not crowded at all and really quiet, so you can rest. The sunbeds are free, curtesy of the Dreamcatcher Taverna nearby. It might not be perfect white sands but the swimming is so good - calm warm waters, views of the mountains, and sandy underfoot (with a metre or 2 of rocks at the shore) It is very accessible, you can drive all the way down to the beach (or an east enough walk; not too steep, not too rocky on the track) we were there at the end of august around 1-3pm and it was mostly older local folks just hanging out in the water and having a nice time.
