A few years ago this place was lovely, but it’s really gone downhill. Before you even sit down you get snapped at that you must spend €30 for the sunbeds, as if the big signs everywhere weren’t already obvious. The waitress with short hair was abrupt and curt, not a hint of hospitality. Her first words weren’t even a welcome but “What is your sunbed number, you must spend €30.” Honestly, if we’re your guests it would’ve been more polite to check the number yourself rather than bark at us.
The tall guy was full of smiles and service for a loud, obnoxious family next to us, running around after them constantly. When I asked for some coffee grounds he sighed, sneered and muttered under his breath while we were being swarmed with wasps. I had to ask more than once and each time he made his irritation very clear. He seemed to cheer up later, but it put a bad taste in my mouth his initial attitude.
Maybe because we’re two younger women they assumed we had less money, which is silly and rude.
The sunloungers are uncomfortable and dirty, and the decking seems to attract wasps probably because it doesn’t get cleaned properly. Food was very average at best. When it came time to pay, the lady behind the bar couldn’t even look up or make eye contact.
Overall it just feels unfriendly, unprofessional and neglected. Such a shame because it used to be a nice spot. Luckily the new place next door is miles better in every way, with a much kinder owner, better service, cleaner facilities and much better food.
If they’ve had a bad season they should think about how much their attitude and poor facilities have contributed to it. This was a horrible experience...
Read moreWe chose this restaurant from the nine or ten others right on the sea front in the small resort of Katelios last night, for a family meal for four. It has a typical Greek Taverna set up, with a friendly welcome and a lovely outlook over the small harbour. Service was very good for drinks and the taking of our food order and we chose mainly their traditional Greek dishes, but also a burger from their children's options, which they were happy to adapt to my granddaughters taste. The food was well presented and of good quality, and we also chose both the house rose and white wine to accompany this. We found this slightly coarse but perfectly drinkable. The restaurant got very busy later in our visit and the staff, needing to focus on new arrivals left it a little late for us to order any dessert. Not a major issue as we purchased ice creams separately on our walk home. Overall, an enjoyable evening meal of a good standard and quality. Efcharisto...
Read moreBeautiful taverna with lovely seating and comfortable setting. The taverna has a gorgeous view of the beach and sea, with Zante sitting in the distance. The taverna provides sunloungers on the beach and an open shower, as well as beach games and chess/checkers tables.
The food is delicious and of a generous yet not excessive size, and the menu provides a variety of greek/Mediterranean dishes including pastas, pizzas, burgers and fish dishes. Breakfasts are available (some stop at 12pm) with a number of choices, including full english, continental, and greek (yoghurt and honey!).
Drinks choices are likewise wideranging with several beers and ciders, coffees and soft drinks, cocktails and also slush puppies and milkshakes (the milkshakes are highly recommended).
Finally the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. They'll quickly see to your needs and are eager to chat.
The entire place is well...
