As much as I will try to describe this beautiful, majestic and great building, I won't be able to give it its right. For tourists, it's more than amazing; it's literally a must visit wherever you are in the world, and the two receptionist ladies outside are amazing, kind and happy! This library is mainly for studying and doing research (very quietly). There are no modern books inside; all of them are so old and contain the history of Greece , and you can't touch them unless you want to do a research. People who want to study should their own laptops, notebooks, or textbooks, etc. to use inside the library.

A neoclassical building Doric order with an impressive double renaissance staircase that houses a part of national library of Greece. It was completed on 1902 and it is the last project of Theophil Hansen under the supervision of Erst Ziller. The statues in the front belong to the donors. You have to be member to have access, but you can enter into the building to see even you are not a member. The main part of National Library have transferred to Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center.

Designed by the Danish architect Theophil Hansen, this is one of the most impressive buildings in Athens, and one of the three buildings that constitute the so-called "Athens trilogy". Its construction was supervised by Ernst Ziller, and was funded by the Vallianos family. As such, the building was named "Vallianio". The beautiful neoclassical building served as the National Library of Greece until 2018, when the book collection was transported to the Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

Greece's Vallianeio Megaron is a fascinating cultural site that highlights the nation's extensive historical and architectural legacy. With its neoclassical architecture, which draws the eye with its beautiful columns, intricate craftsmanship, and harmonious proportions, the spectacular structure emanates grandeur and elegance. Ornate decorations, chandeliers, and exquisitely constructed furniture can be found inside the well-preserved interior, which contributes to the enchanting ambiance. The museum presents a wide variety of exhibitions and activities that highlight Greek history, culture, and art. The skilled and enthusiastic team offers insightful analysis and relevant context. Vallianeio Megaron occasionally holds performances and cultural events, adding to Greece's thriving cultural landscape. For those interested in Vallianeio Megaron generally, it provides a...

Beautiful building. I checked several local and digital guides / sources, and this library commonly appeared in the “must see” attractions.

I’m a book guy, and I love libraries. Given the Rick Steves, Fodor’s, & Lonely Planet’s praise of this library, I’d have traveled 5x further than the 2 miles iwalked on a scorching Tuesday, when all sources suggested it should be open. All entrances to the building were locked..

I. Given that we could not enter the building, and that literally zero signage, information, or guidance existed anywhere across the property, I’m giving this, regretfully, an...
