Akira Sushi Bar | Athens Japanese Restaurant — Restaurant in Athens

I must say, Akira Japanese Restaurant is the very best sushi restaurant in all of Athens and all of Greece. I have tried over a dozen sushi restaurants during my stays in Greece and there is nothing close to the perfection you will find at Akira.

This is my favorite food so I have tried sushi everywhere I’ve traveled including Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Buenos Aires. Akira is among my favorites all over the worlds and is now my only sushi stop in Athens.

The restaurant operates under the direction of Konstantine and Carlos. You will see them throughout your dining experience providing coaching to the sushi chefs. Let me tell you, their sushi chefs are among the best you will see in the world, however, this is the level of perfection you will receive from Akira. Its owners take great pride in every bite you will savor, every cut of the fish, every presentation of each roll or item you order.

Let’s start with the Maguro (Tuna). It is so delicious, savory and sweet. Plus they know how to serve sashimi, always cutting to perfection along the scale so you only get perfect succulent meat that melts as you chew it slowly. Their Signature Maki are also so creative and unique. You are sure to find a roll you’ve never seen before that blows your mind. Of all the places I have been, the Tachi Roll for me was my favorite here and is the best seared filet beef I’ve ever tasted in a Maki. I also have had the Kakashi, Kani, Maguro Roll, and Akira roll. All of them excellent! In addition, they have amazing salads, appetizers (I recommend the Steamed Buns of your preference), and excellent wine and beer pairings.

I rarely write reviews, but the experience at Akira Restaurant is extraordinary and required my positive feedback to be shared with all of Athens and all of the world travelers looking for the best sushi in the world! The restaurant gives a vibe it's gonna provide a decent meal passing by it and after trying it out ,I have to say , indeed it delivers a decent Asian experience with sushi rolls ,bao buns and more delicious options . I had the Crab bao bun , Shrimp noodles and a signature sushi roll with shrimp tempura and some crusted onions on top and Philadelphia and was satisfied. A stand out worth mentioning in this restaurant ,is the service . I was served by a friendly and attentive waitress named Nina who from the very beggining took care of everything . From charging my phone when I was almost out of battery ,providing GENUINE recommendations about the menu and kept asking how the meal tastes,going out of her way making sure it's all going well for my experience at Akira.Being a professional myself in the restaurant customer service domain for over a decade ,I have to say good job ,keep it up...
