The National Historical Museum in Athens, Greece, located in the Old Parliament House, is a key institution dedicated to the preservation and presentation of Greek history from the fall of Constantinople in 1453 to the present day. The museum is situated in the heart of Athens on Stadiou Street, housed in the historic Old Parliament House. This location is easily accessible and near other significant landmarks in the city. The National Historical Museum is one of Greece's most important museums, offering a comprehensive overview of modern Greek history. It is particularly focused on the period from the Greek War of Independence (1821) to the 20th century. A major part of the museum's collection is dedicated to the Greek War of Independence against Ottoman rule (1821-1830). Exhibits include weapons, uniforms, personal items of key figures like Theodoros Kolokotronis, and documents such as proclamations and treaties. The museum also features artifacts from the period of Ottoman and Venetian rule in Greece, providing context to the conditions leading up to the revolution. Items include everyday objects, religious artifacts, and artworks from these periods. Exhibits trace the development of the modern Greek state from its founding after the War of Independence to the 20th century. This includes political documents, medals, uniforms, and personal belongings of various Greek kings and statesmen. The museum has extensive displays on Greece's involvement in the Balkan Wars, World War I, and World War II. Artifacts include military uniforms, weapons, and propaganda materials, as well as personal items from soldiers and civilians. A significant section of the museum is dedicated to Greek folk art and traditional costumes from various regions. These exhibits highlight the cultural diversity and heritage of Greece through textiles, jewelry, and everyday objects. The museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions focusing on specific aspects of Greek history or significant anniversaries. These exhibitions often feature items from private collections or other museums. The museum is housed in the Old Parliament House, a neoclassical building constructed in 1875. This building served as the seat of the Greek Parliament until 1935 and has significant historical value in its own right. The museum’s exhibitions are arranged chronologically and thematically across several rooms, allowing visitors to follow the progression of Greek history and explore specific aspects in detail. The National Historical Museum is generally open daily, though hours may vary depending on the season or public holidays. Visitors should check the museum's official website for the latest information on opening times. The museum offers guided tours that provide deeper insights into the exhibits and the history they represent. These tours are available in multiple languages and can be arranged in advance. The museum is accessible to visitors with disabilities, and facilities such as a gift shop and rest areas are available. The Old Parliament House’s historic architecture adds to the museum experience. The museum is a vital center for research on modern Greek history. It maintains extensive archives and a library that are accessible to scholars and the public. The museum offers a variety of educational programs aimed at school groups, families, and adults. These programs are designed to engage visitors with Greek history in interactive and informative ways. The museum frequently hosts lectures, seminars, and cultural events that explore various aspects of Greek history and heritage, often in collaboration with academic institutions and cultural organizations. Visiting the National Historical Museum in the Old Parliament House provides a thorough and engaging exploration of modern Greek history. The museum's rich collections, historic setting, and educational programs make it an essential destination for anyone interested in Greece’s journey from Ottoman rule to...

If you like the recent history of Greece don't hesitate to visit it! I really enjoyed this museum, it's great! The National Historical Museum of Athens is housed in an impressive Neoclassical building at the heart of the city, within a walking distance from Syntagma and Omonoia. Construction began in 1858, but stopped later and it was finally completed with a revised neoclassical design in 1875 by the French architect Boulanger. Until 1935, the building housed the Greek Parliament and the Ministry of Justice. It became a museum when the Parliament was transferred to its present home in Syntagma. The grand Central Hall of the National Assembly is still used for conferences today. Vsitors can see it when entering the museum, located just behind the ticket desk. Its collection covers the modern periods of the Greek history, from the 15th till the 20th century. In particular, there are flags, weaponry, furniture, folk costumes, personal items of historical Greek figures and pieces of everyday life.

At the yard of the Historical Museum, there stand three statues: the state of Theodoros Kolokotronis, a prominent figure of the Greek Revolution, on horseback; the statue of Harilaos Trikoupis, a famous Greek politician of the late 19th century; and Theodoros Diligiannis, Greek prime minister and political opponent of Trikoupis, assassinated at the entrance of the Parliament in 1905.

The National Historical Museum is located in central Athens, one block northwest of Syntagma Square and about 1km from Monastiraki Square. The nearest metro stations are Syntagma or Panepistimio, both about a 300-meter walk on...

Knowing your real personality is the first requirement for building an ideal personality. This is necessary in the same way as it is necessary to understand the question in depth in order to find the answer. When we will be well acquainted with the real nature of our personality, when we will have correct knowledge of every specialty, defect and deficiency of our personality, then only we will be able to refine our personality and convert it into an ideal personality. That's why Swami Nityanandji has said that one must have knowledge of his inner self. Famous American actor and director Michael Dolan tells us a very good way to become aware of the inner things. He says that if we want to know ourselves, then we have to get lost in our life. How we behave in our life, what we are interested in, what thoughts come in our mind, these things together determine our personality. And we can understand them from our own life. After recognizing these things, we may have to make changes in many places for the development of our personality. But if these changes are done correctly to get good results, then only it will be called development. There is no person who does not have flaws. But, if there are flaws, then with them the advantages are also mutually included. Those who enhance their specialties while removing their flaws, their personality is called an ideal...

The Old Parliament building (Greek: Παλαιά Βουλή, Paleá Voulí) at Stadiou Street in Athens, housed the Greek Parliament between 1875 and 1932. It now houses the country's National Historical Museum (Εθνικό Ιστορικό Μουσείο, Ethnikó Istorikó Mouseío). The museum houses the collection of the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece (IEEE), founded in 1882. It is the oldest collection of its kind in Greece, and prior to its transfer in the Old Parliament, was housed in the main building of the National Technical University. The collection contains historical items concerning the period from the fall of Constantinople to the Ottomans in 1453 to the Second World War, focusing especially in the period of the Greek Revolutionand the subsequent establishment of the modern Greek state. Among the items displayed are weapons, personal belongings and memorabilia from historical personalities, historical paintings by Greek and foreign artists, manuscripts, as well as a large collection of traditional costumes from the various regions of Greece. The collection is displayed in the corridors and rooms of the building, while the great central hall of the National Assembly is used for conferences.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to experience a candlelight performance in this historic building, and it was nothing short of magical. The venue, with its rich history and timeless architecture, set the perfect atmosphere for an evening of music. The glow of the candles added a soft, intimate touch, illuminating the details of the building and creating an almost ethereal vibe. The quartet, performing classic Queen hits, was absolutely phenomenal. Their rendition of the legendary band’s music was both respectful and innovative, weaving together strings and harmonies that gave these iconic songs new life. It felt like a journey through time—both through the grandeur of the building and the unforgettable tunes that are beloved worldwide. The blend of Queen’s powerful ballads with the serene ambiance of the candles and the historic surroundings made for an unforgettable experience. It was a night where the past and present beautifully collided, leaving me with memories that will last a lifetime. If you ever get the chance to attend a performance in such a setting, I highly recommend it—it’s an experience that redefines what live music and history can be.
