The aquarium was amazing! I loved it! The boat trip however was horrifying… Upon booking we were told it was a “little choppy” which is no problem and i took 2 travel sick pills just in case. We arrived at the port and got aboard the boat. Again we were reminded it was a little choppy. It was myself and my sister with a few other passengers. Certainly not a full boat. The boat was swaying in the harbour which i would class as ‘a little choppy’ and i was fine with this. However, after sailing from the harbour toward the ocean we found that ‘a little choppy’ was an extreme understatement. It was horrifying. Waves crashed over the sides of the boat soaking everyone on board and it was a terrifying experience. We arrived at a point where we were due to watch the fish being fed. Myself and my sister both went under the boat into the submarine area, my hope was that it would feel less rocky. All i saw under the boat was waves crashing. I was however only there for approx 30 seconds…long enough to overdose on travel sick tablets. I went back up top leaving my sister below deck. We began to make the horrific journey back and again the waves were so high crashing over the boat and soaking everyone that i began to fear for my life. I closed my eyes and hoped for the best. My sister rejoined us from below deck and almost fell overboard, thankfully a man grabbed her and she stumbled onto another passenger. I truly feel that he saved her. Children were crying. Everyone was clinging onto whatever they could hold all the while being soaked. I clung so tightly to a pole that my hands and arms hurt afterwards. Upon arriving back at the harbour the captain stated that he was sorry and that he had informed the aquarium that it was not safe to sail but they had ignored him and refused to cancel the boat trip that afternoon. The passengers trauma bonded and we all had a chat afterwards. I have emailed the aquarium about this and requested a refund but have not received any form of response or acknowledgment even after 1 month later. I recommend a visit to the aquarium but avoid the boat trip if you have any value...
Read moreI absolutely loved it here, it is small but there's so much to look at, the guide is very informative, there's a little cafe beside with a gift shop and ice cream to cool you down with fans too, the views are also absolutely beautiful. I was a bit annoyed at how the guide specifically said you can take pictures after the tour but people were shoving their phones Infront of everyone and huddling around the enclosures- I could barely hear our guide because of the people talking and shoving their phones Infront of the animals immediately. I learnt a few more facts than I was aware of!! (I'm autistic and animals specifically reptiles are huge special interests of mine) so I was very happy to see they had reptiles (I even got to hold a snake!!) I have a tortoise so it was so cool to see sulcatas, some enclosures are quite small so hopefully within a few years they'll upgrade. I've also researched a lot and found glass tanks/enclosures can stress out reptiles, one lizard was running at the glass and scraping it which was showing quite bad behaviours. the sulcatas will grow a lot bigger & that enclosure will be far too small within a few years so I really hope they won't all be squished in there as they get bigger but there's iguanas, frogs, a bearded dragon, multiple snakes such as ball pythons to boas, a snapping turtle, alligator, etc!! it was so so cool, I've held snakes when I was younger but I haven't held one in a few years so I was tiny bit nervous as I didnt know how to hold her correctly but our guide was so so lovely & I'm so happy she let me handle one of the snakes.
we also done the submarine in which was VERY hot below, crammed (like you're literally knee to knee with eachother) so I had to go back up top of the deck within like 20 minutes because I was seriously going to vomit and or pass out lol, it was very pretty though.
this was definitely my favourite part of going to corfu, this aquarium was actually the whole reason I wanted to go to Corfu haha
it won't let me...
Read moreHad a wonderful experience at this aquarium. Arrived not realising that you have a guide to take you round the exhibits, must admit we weren’t overly keen on this but it turned out to be a real joy. Tom, our guide, was very knowledgeable and managed our small group of very different ages brilliantly. About half way round however, the aquarium became extremely full, becoming increasingly difficult to hear or see the exhibits. We decided we had had enough and would depart early. Tom apologised and offered to show us the rest of the exhibits if we came back a little later when things quieted down. Now, to be honest, I thought that was that, didn’t think we’d be back and left, stopping to grab a drink on the way out. Then Tom appeared and said all was quiet now, took us back in to finish the tour, really great, lots of hands on stuff and just so unexpected. He also gave us a gift from the shop to apologise again for the disruption earlier. It really was an unexpected pleasure and this aquarium and Tom should be applauded for their excellent customer service and...
