!!!DON’T GO HERE PLEASE!!!
We reserved a spot for this Tuesday the Saturday before. Paid the deposit and agreed to get picked up at our hotel.
We were waiting in front of our hotel, at the only entrance, 10 minutes before the agreed pick-up time (we are always early).
We waited and waited, yet no one showed up. One of us went to the reception while the other one waited out on the street, just to be sure we didn’t miss the guy picking us up. The guy at the reception told us no one reported or asked for us, also, no one showed up at the front gate of our hotel.
Then we got a call from a woman from Amarillo’s Stable stating we lost our spots because we were not at the gate of the hotel at the designated time. She was arguing on the phone we weren’t there (we were) and that “Nico” waited for us and also went to the reception and asked for us (he did not!). He was never there and never showed up, since we waited early and the receptionist told us no one from outside of the resort reported to the desk.
They took our deposit (30,- euros) and we won’t get it back. The woman on the phone was very rude. Easy money for this scam stable. No service, no attempt to even pick us up, they simply decided not to show up at all, yet they keep your money.
Later we learned today is a holiday on Crete and they will have a military parade on the island. That might have something to do with this stable not wanting to honor the agreement and also stealing our deposit with their lies. Cheap, scandalous and horrible people. If they treat customers this way I don’t even want to find out how they treat their horses. Don’t...
Read moreWe had a wonderful time going on a ride with a group of 5. We where 2 experienced adults and 2 beginners + 1 child (12yrs old). Mr. Nikos took fantastic care of all of us and held the child's horse on a rope during the ride for safety. He genuinely loves his horses 🐴 and cares for them, therefore he requests to not weight more then 100KG as a rider. The ride is a nice blend of landscapes. During the summer season no one is allowed to ride on the beach of Stalida but we passed from the main road to have the nice sea view anyway. The horses are Cretan Georgalidikos. The native horse breed of Crete, they have some Arabic blood and even though they are small they are really powerful. The 1ste time we came unexpectedly to the stables the horse where playing outside together in the paddock. Stalida has a rocky and rough terrain but no worries those Cretan horses have no issues with the rocks. 😁 All the horses looked good and Mr. Nikos will answer any question you might have regarding their health or ages. Fun fact my horse (Kanelo as shown in the picture) is the father of one of the other horses which came with us on a ride. We would...
Read moreAfter seeing the poster at all the travel centres I booked an hour & a half beach ride for myself. The owner picked us up from the hotel & drive us to his stables a short distance from Stalis. It was incredibly upsetting seeing the conditions these poor ponies were kept in. They were emaciated some with a body score of 1, I would think. There were 14 animals there, the owner said 4 had died recently, probably from starvation. He was very domineering & intimidating. The ponies he put us on were far too small to carry our & his weights. I got off mine & led him. When we got back he turned them out into a rocky arena giving them a small flap of straw to eat. If this was the UK the RSPCA would seize all animals at the property & the owner would be prosecuted for cruelty & neglect. I spoke with the travel company we had booked the ride with, the woman’s response was that as long as tourists book the horse rides it will continue. She agreed with me that the ponies were in a...
