Visiting the Castle of Pyrgos in Santorini was a real highlight of my trip. The village itself is charming and peaceful, and the castle perched at the top of the hill offers panoramic views over the island that are absolutely breathtaking. From up there, you can see the caldera, the Aegean Sea, and the scattered villages in a way that feels truly special.
The climb to the top is easy and pleasant, winding through narrow streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses, small churches, and little cafés. It’s the perfect spot to take photos or simply soak in the atmosphere without the crowds you find in Fira or Oia.
The castle ruins are small but picturesque, and exploring them gives a real sense of history and the island’s past. I went in the late afternoon, and the light at sunset made the views even more magical.
