During our stay in Santorini, we discovered an absolute gem of a restaurant just a short walk from our VRBO and it quickly became one of the highlights of our trip. We ended up dining there multiple times simply because everything about the experience was that good.
The gyros were, without a doubt, the best we’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, tender meat wrapped in soft, warm pita with the freshest toppings. The vegetables tasted like they were picked straight from a garden that morning bursting with flavor and full of that homegrown goodness you rarely find in restaurants. Paired with a glass (or two!) of local wine, it made for an absolutely perfect meal every time.
The charm of this spot goes far beyond the food. The service was warm, welcoming, and genuine. The staff made us feel right at home, greeting us with smiles and treating us more like friends than tourists. Even with a language barrier here and there, their hospitality spoke volumes.
One of the things we loved most was the atmosphere it wasn’t overly touristy. Locals dined alongside us, laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying their meals. It made the whole experience feel more authentic and connected us to the heart of Santorini in a special way.
We’ve traveled quite a bit, but few places leave this kind of lasting impression. Between the outstanding food, the relaxing ambiance, and the lovely people, this restaurant became a memorable part of our vacation. We’re already talking about going back someday and when we do, this little spot will be our first stop.
Highly recommended to anyone visiting Santorini you’ll leave full, happy, and already planning...
Read moreReview for Sergena Taverna
We came to Sergena Taverna, a seafood restaurant, with high expectations, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of what we had hoped for.
To start, we waited 50 minutes for our food, which was already quite frustrating. We eventually ordered a two-person fish platter, which turned out to be very disappointing, especially the octopus. On a positive note, the small sardines were tasty, and the sea bass was fine. However, the seafood spaghetti was completely bland and flavorless, while the Greek salad was decent.
After finishing our meal, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to attend to us, but no one came, so we got up from the dirty table to pay. The supposed manager only then got up from his group of friends, who he clearly paid more attention to than the other guests. When we said we would like to pay, he rudely told us, “inside.”
When I went inside to pay, the manager asked what the problem was. I explained that we had waited a long time for our food and that the two-person platter was overall very bad. He only responded by saying that the kitchen was busy, even though there were only five tables occupied besides ours. He just walked away without saying a word, not even apologizing.
Overall, we paid 120 euros for an extremely unpleasant experience, and I would not recommend this place to anyone in the future. The same manager seated another table next to us, and after waiting for about 5 minutes without any service, they left the restaurant. In hindsight, we should have...
Read moreThis restaurant is a true diamond in the rough. My family and I stumbled upon this restaurant on the way back to our Airbnb from spending a day in Santorini’s town Fira. We were greeted and hosted by the very kind Maria. Throughout our visit to Sergena Tavern, Maria took great care of us and provided delicious recommendations from their menu. The dinner that we had was so beyond delicious, we had to return the following night to have dinner again. The food was cooked to perfection, they used all fresh ingredients and the meals came out steaming hot and packed with flavor. On the second night there, we had the wine tasting and enjoyed our delicious dinners with fantastic wines. We spoke with the owner of the restaurant, Maria, and to our delight- a lot of the vegetables, herbs, and greens used in the dishes, came straight from her garden. I recommend this place to any and everyone visiting the Santorini Island even if it is out-of-the-way, you will not be disappointed! It is a short bus ride away from Fira and 100% worth it!! We left BOTH nights with our plates EMPTY! haha I would go back to Santorini JUST to enjoy another...
