Thessaloniki tavern | Skiathos — Restaurant in Skiathos Municipality

I stopped at this taverna for a beer after a walk along the town beach, and liked the beer with free nibbles... But also the fact that the dining terrace is right on the beach. The sea is lapping at the sand about 10 metres away. It has a good view of Ammos bay looking out towards the smaller uninhabited islands south of Skiathos. The food I saw on other tables looked good, so I returned the same evening for a meal. I wasn't disappointed. The quality was excellent (apart from one rogue tomato in my otherwise fine tomato salad being strangely tasteless) but the other chunks were as tasty as normal Greek beef tomatoes. The chips were also worth mentioning - excellent butterfly cut ridged chips that weren't greasy, but crisp outside and soft inside. Service was quick - I got my beer immediately, food in around 10 minutes. Food was nicely presented, certainly compared to a lot of other Greek tavernas where the food is simply put on the plate. I liked eating here and I returned for a delicious lunch of calamares on my final day in Skiathos. Portions were plentiful in my opinion. Prices were pretty much similar to other nearby Skiathos tavernas. I paid 32 euros for a tomato salad, whitebait, a side of chips and a half litre of Retsina. And my calamares with a garnish of salad at lunch was around 26 euros or so, including a large beer and 500 ml of Retsina. Service was even quicker. NOTE- that I didn't have the pork cutlets - just the calamari. The toilets are spotless too - a bonus point...

Great food. Great service. Amazing seafood plate. Highly recommend this place!

Edit: I'm in Skiathos for my second time. This time I ordered the spaghetti with shrimps, VERY tasty and a big portion.

I've been eating in a lot of restaurants but Thessaloniki, according to me, is one of the best restaurant in Skiathos. Really nice service, great view, you basically sit on the beach, great food no matter what you order, the prices are normal but I would even pay more for the food here. This is the only restaurant I do come back to in Skiathos. The rest of them are good but still, Thessaloniki is on the higher level. I will be a regular customer when I visit Skiathos. If I could I would give them more...

Perfection on a plate, eaten here twice already and both times has been fantastic. There are just two of us but we are not rushed at all. We are not huge drinkers or eaters but are still welcomed. The food is traditional and there are other options too. Not huge portions (like the rest of the island) which can be off putting and very reasonable prices. We are two small women., lol Delish food… please eat here as you’ll love it., Also the snack bar attached to them is fab through the day time too… Edit…Just sat for our third and last meal in Skiathos. Beautiful hosts and beautiful food. Thank you...
