We came as a group of certified cave divers. Our guide, Csaba, was friendly and, after I complained after our first dive, he tried his best to solve the “trust me dive” system they use to guide divers through the cave – a complete violation of cave diving standards. The major problem was the rest of the crew: they seemed incapable of saying “good morning”, “please”, or any other basic expression one might expect from educated human beings (light years away of what you'd expect from a diving operator, working with people who come to a place to enjoy an experience). The manners of the crew included being pushed aside by a crew member who didn’t utter a single word to ask me to move aside or apologize from pushing me. One of my teammates had an issue with his fin. When he informed a staff member, rather than offering help or showing the slightest concern, he chose to mock him for diving in sidemount configuration and leave. I had to retrieve the fin using no-mount techniques, without any assistance or concern from the staff members. It has been the worst customer service I’ve seen in 20 years of active diving around the globe. The cave itself is interesting, but does not compensate the experience unless you have no other options nearby for cave diving. I definitely won’t come back unless it’s run by a different operator – or the current one undergoes some serious customer service training and a complete overhaul of their attitude, professionalism, and basic etiquetre (which, based on our last day, nome of them appear to be on...
Read moreI’ve always wanted to try scuba diving, and I finally got the chance thanks to a discovery course I was gifted. Lately, I’ve developed a bit of a weird thing about submerged objects (algae, sunken stuff… you name it), so I thought why not do a little exposure therapy. I’ll be honest: I didn’t spend that much time underwater (but that’s a me problem, I listened to my mind whenever I felt uncomfortable and knew my limits), but the time I did spend down there was pretty magical. And honestly, I’m still so glad I did it.
Huge shoutout and apologies to my instructor, Attila, who was super patient, chill and knew exactly how to keep things light and calm while I turned diving into a game of underwater peekaboo by going to the surface every now and then…my bad. I felt totally safe which is no small feat when your brain is busy spiraling.
In the end, I realized scuba diving might not be my lifelong hobby, but it was such a cool experience and I’m really happy I gave it a try. I totally recommend it…at least once! You might end up loving it… or, like me, you’ll have a great story and a newfound appreciation for...
Read moreAn amazing cave dive. Took a couple of attempts to organise due to covid, but Eta was friendly and helpful by email helping make the arrangements. There are two entrances to the caves, one in open air at by the shop and one (which we used) deep in a tunnel in the hillside. The set up was excellent and I was met by Eta who showed me around and gave me a detailed history of the caves. As I was the only one diving the caves (hardly surprising, as it was mid-week in February), we prepared at my pace. I hired the full kit and found it to be of high quality and good repair. Although I've had just over 400 past dives, I hadn't dived in 2½ years so, during the first dive, Eta helped me with my kit, checked that I was all set up correctly, then constantly checked that I was ok. The second dive (again taken after a surface interval that I specified) was more relaxed, going deeper into the cave system. All in all, it was an excellent couple of dives - Eta was friendly, helpful and very professional throughout. If you're into, or even curious about, cave diving, I would highly recommend...
