Nestled on the Danube River in the heart of Budapest, Margaret Island is a true gem that offers a serene escape from the bustling city life. During my visit, I discovered a haven of tranquility, breathtaking landscapes, and a wealth of recreational activities that left me rejuvenated and captivated.
The moment I set foot on the island, I was greeted by lush greenery, manicured gardens, and scenic paths. It was as if the outside world had melted away, and I was transported to a peaceful retreat. The island's vast parklands were perfect for leisurely strolls, picnics, or simply finding a quiet spot to immerse myself in nature's beauty.

As the fountains danced to the rhythm of the music, I found myself enchanted by the symphony of colors and patterns, creating an enchanting atmosphere that delighted both young and old.
For those seeking adventure, Margaret Island offers an array of activities. From renting bikes and exploring the scenic paths to enjoying a relaxing boat ride along the river, there was no shortage of options to stay active and make the most of the island's natural surroundings.

Read moreEasily one of my favourite things we did whilst visiting Budapest was coming to the evening show of the music fountain. The times are all on a board near the fountain and we noted it down and came back another day after spending the morning exploring the park. The fountains are always 'on' but they have regular performances throughout the day where the fountain jets more around the music plays. It's completely free, there are lots of chairs and things to sit around the fountain and it was pretty quiet at that time of night. It's about a 20 min show, we did get pretty cold so would recommend bringing a coat/jacket depending on time of...
