Very positive evaluation and our love for Icelandic Skyr motivated us to visit the Skyrland with our family. We were really disappointed. Indeed, the small exhibition and tour illustrated a nice touch for details, BUT: on the homepage there was no mentioning that the exhibition in real is a marketing show for the Skyr brand "Isey". The Skyr testing was a small portion of Isey Vanilla Skyr with some fruit (real value possibly ca. 50 krones per portion). Of note: that particular type of Skyr is a cocktail with artificial sweeteners and flavor. Thus: this is certainly not even close to any real natural Icelandic Skyr. Even with reading everything very carefully (we were genuinely interested also in the process of Skyr production - not shown by any video) we were done with everything after 30 min. To us: absolutely not...
Read moreSkyrland is a nice exhibit describing how skyr is made and how it differs from other milk-based products. It takes about 15 minutes to wander through and see the displays. There is some historic lab equipment reflecting the 40-generation long history of skyr-making in Iceland. Fun historic fact is how the cow was so valuable to the survival of a family that it would live inside the house during winter while the other farm animals had to live outside. The admission fee entitles you to a skyr parfait with fresh fruit. You can also purchase many more treats at the skyr bar. Upstairs there are multiple restaurants in the Old...
Read moreI was today in this exhibition. I think most of the people knows how milk, cheese, butter are done. But I didn't get the information what Skyr makes so special. There are some diagrams, some walls where by touching elements additional information is provided, there is a SummerGrasSimulator, there is anlarge shelf with old stuff from the factory. The tasting consists if 1 spoon pure Skyr and 1 little Skyrdessert. Staff seems to be a little bit distracted, they don't care if people just enter the exhibition without paying or not. Honestly thats the most appropriate thing they can do. So summary: to less information or tasting for...
