Due to jet lag, I did a pre-dawn walk around Hveragerdi and accidentally stumbled onto the Reykjafoss Waterfalls. This very pretty little set of falls was easily accessible and had walking paths (or a sort) running up and down the valley. There are parks nearby for picnicking and relatively gentle waters. Well worth a visit in you are staying in town.

Avec ses 25 mètres de hauteur, elle offre un spectacle moins impressionnant que d’autre mais qui vaut le de tour surtout si l’on va admirer le geyser qui est proche. Un cadre idyllique Reykjafoss se niche dans un écrin de verdure, entourée de champs de lave et de montagnes. La cascade se divise en deux branches distinctes qui se jettent dans une rivière glaciaire. Les eaux tumultueuses dégagent une brume rafraîchissante qui enveloppe les visiteurs, créant une atmosphère paisible et revigorante. Accès: Reykjafoss se trouve à environ 7 kilomètres de Varmahlid. Il est accessible par la route 752. Parking: Un parking gratuit est disponible à proximité de la cascade. Sentier: Le sentier menant à la cascade est facile d'accès et adapté à tous les niveaux.
