We picked this property based primarily because of price and accommodations. As a last minute trip with my daughter, we wanted a place that was reasonable in price, clean, and somewhat close to the downtown/touristy area of Reykjavik. ||We lucked out and got a corner room (310) so that we had plenty of windows and the ability to have good air circulation. Blackout curtains provided great coverage for sleeping, since daylight was practically 20 hrs a day :-).||Kitchenette suited our needs well - had electric stove, small sink, mini frig, microwave. Kitchen items were also stocked (plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, mugs, dish towel, dish rack, toaster, coffee maker, pots and pans, all utensils for eating and cooking, dish soap, scrubber). Lots of cabin space to put things away.||Our room also had a table (with two chairs) for eating and a nice couch to sit around (rather than having to lounge in bed all the time). Sleeping/living area and bathroom were very clean, and I really liked the plank flooring, which was very easy to clean up. Our entryway had a coat rack with shelf for storing shoes. There was also a hanger rack provided with some hangers; there's no dresser. However, we used the deep-set window ledges to hold our clothes.| |Bathroom had all the supplies (body soap, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap). Towels (bath and hand) were provided; honor system for replacing your bath towels every other day in the 3rd floor laundry/supply room. Laundry room had two sets of washers/dryers; it cost 990 Krona per wash/dry. Laundry detergent is included in the cost of the wash - it self-dispenses from the washer.||Check in was right at 3pm via room code. Our flight got in the morning, so we were able to store our luggage in the locked luggage room (I think there's one on each floor - 3rd, 4th, 5th). There were cameras in the hallways, which added to the sense of security. The took a look at the 4th and 5th floors, and they each had a nice open seating area (if you wanted to wait for your room to "open").||The gas station in front of the apts also had a Braud & Co location - great place to catch some pastries, sandwiches, drinks, coffee. It's a bit smaller so not for a large group, but convenient. There's a Netto (grocery store) right across the street by the Hilton. The other grocery store Bonus, is also close by (maybe 5 min walk?). I walked to downtown every day to see the sights; it's a little a mile a way. ||We stayed for 7 days and our...
Read moreI was worried about there not being anyone on site as my flight into Reykjavik came in quite late, but I needn’t have stressed. Everything is done with access codes rather than lockboxes, and I received the code for the main door (only locked late at night) as well as my room number and room access code 2 days before I arrived. I was able to easily gain access to the building and my room immediately after being dropped off by the airport shuttle in front of the building.
The room is spacious, and the kitchenette one of the best provided I’ve seen. In addition to a pot and pan, there’s a coffeemaker, toaster and microwave. There’s more than 5 feet between the kitchenette and beds so it never felt cramped. There’s also a large (dining) table with 2 chairs, and an armchair. The bathroom is a little on the small side, but not the smallest I’ve seen. The water pressure is fantastic and the heated towel rack a nice touch. The radiator warms up really quickly so the room is always nice and toasty.
There’s a laundry room with 3 washers and 3 dryers (completely free to use). Toiletries are available here as well if you need them.
It’s a 25 minute walk from the city centre, so it can seem a bit long. I’ve found it really helped to break the return journey with a stop at the Bonus supermarket on Skipholt (which has a great candy aisle - get the dark chocolate Hraun and Sambo Pistur). The airport shuttle and day tours will pick you up right outside, so you won’t have to wait in the cold/rain at one of the...
Read moreClean studio apartment with your basic needs. My husband and I stayed here during our visit in Reykjavik. It is close to a bus route which we utilized one night to check out bars. It's not too far from downtown, we did walk home and it took about 20 minutes. Just be prepared to bundle up. I picked this lodging because of the kitchen. It was nice to be able to make coffee or tea in the morning and cook on some days since eating out can be pricey. I wish they provide the basic kitchen condiments like oil or salt and pepper so we didn't have to buy them. Still we saved up a lot of money making our own food. There is also free washer and dryer which was really helpful. They even provide the laundry soap! We got to wash our clothes and pack light. There is also a towel warmer in the bathroom! Stepping out of the shower with warm towels feels like a luxury. The best part is that they were very accommodating when our flight got cancelled and ended up losing 2 days on our trip when rebooked. They allowed us to move those two nights towards the end of our trip. We were in Reykjavik for 3 days, then 5 days in south iceland, and came back to Reykjavik for 2 more days before flying out. I had booked a different lodging for the last 2 days in Reykjavik which I was able to cancel without cost, and moved the 2 days we lost for that instead. It was great that we didn't lose money. I will definitely stay here again when I come back...
