Is a modern concrete and glass building that flows seamlessly with its surroundings. The building is open to visitors, accessible via a bridge over the pond, around with ducks. The building opened in 1992 and, in addition to housing the offices of the Mayor, often hosts exhibits and events. Tjörnin, the Reykjavik Pond, is a tranquil oasis in the heart of the city centre. On a nice day you can sit on the benches nearby the City Hall and watch the ducks, geese and swans float by. The park space Hljómskálagarður, at the southern end of Tjörnin, is a popular spot in the summer months for locals to bring their children to play, barbecue, and enjoy the nice weather. In winter the pond freezes but don't stand on the ice unless it's well below freezing at -6 or -8C

Very picturesque building. Can be confusing were to walk in. Inside there are phone chargers, free nice bathrooms (great advantage), and down staits there is a neat topographical map. It is all carved out of wood, seemed a little dusty and neglected. The pond behind makes for a nice walk if you have the time, and usually has a lot of ducks and geese. This is a good place to meet other tourist and regroup.

Two pretty ugly concrete buildings ruin the view of beautiful Tjornin Lake in Reykjavik's downtown. This is the capital's City Hall. The better part is you can enter it for free via small pedestrian bridge. Very clean restrooms to use and free wifi inside. The highlight to visit it is a terrific huge 3D map of Iceland displayed in the lobby.

Free wifi, bathrooms, maps and houses of all parts of Iceland. You can also talk to real people at several info desks that can answer all your question and help you book any type of tour you want. There is also a big model of Iceland which is interesting to see especially after making the drive around the country.

Beautiful area that has a large pond where you can sit and watch the birds. WE saw a cat there that was stalking the ducks and swan which were bigger than it! Gorgeous when we were there to walk aid or take a break and enjoy the scenery.
