This is a great place to people watch or grab something to eat or drink. It's on the middle of a lot of hotels and restaurants and the public Square always seem to have something going on. Very pedestrian friendly and lots of benches to relax at. We saw lots of tourists but also lots of locals too. They are completing another hotel that will be a mix of some old and new buildings. They have murals up that describe what the history is and what it will eventually become.

Central place in Reykjavik for all shopping and eateries joints. The place is well connected to all hotels and main street. The good part is cars are not allowed so it's a car free street of shopping and a wide range of restaurants that gives happy hours offers on drinks as well as good offers on combo meals. There are entertainment activities you must explore

Ingólfur Square in downtown Reykjavík becomes a beautifully-lit square with an ice rink around Christmas time. A lively square with a lot of bars, restaurants and cafés in the vicinity, Ingólfur square is readily accessible on foot from some of Reykjavík’s key landmarks. Worth a stop whilst downtown!

During the holidays an ice skating rink is temporarily housed here. Otherwise, this square is a nice meeting spot and hub but does not have much to do when there is no seasonal events or events in general. It is an outlet for the main shopping street and is surrounded by many shops. Right in the square are two small buildings/stands with places to eat. I believe there is also a public restroom in or nearby the square. Nothing to marvel over but cute nonetheless. You will most likely stumble upon it...
