Safnahúsið á Húsavík/Husavik Museum — Attraction in undefined

Really nice museum! Great staff too. They turned on all of the lights and opened all the exhibits special for us. We were the only ones in there. Covid 19 has really slowed down the museum but it was refreshing that we weren't turned away. I especially liked the boat exhibits. They have 4 or 5 inside. They also have a large amount of old propulsion motors as well. A variety of old navigation electronics, old net gear, seal harpoons, and I could go on and on. Just a wonderful place for any old commercial fishermen to see. And any person interested in history for that matter. I don't give 5 stars often, but this was fun for the whole family. We were able to keep our 5 month old entertained the entire time....

Super interesting museum with lots of objects being displayed and lots of information. I just wish I had more time to properly read all the panels, but I'll be back. I particularly loved the Maritime section of the museum. Just one info, their winter opening times start on September 1st, meaning, the museum opens at 1pm instead of 11am, despite Google Maps...

Dieses Museum ist unbedingt einen Besuch wert. Außer der wirklich liebevoll gemachten dauerausstellung im Erdgeschoss gibt es dann im ersten Stock noch eine kunstausstellung mit mit beeindruckenden zeitgenössischen Bilder eines isländischen Künstlers - feinste Rembrandt-Technik zeigt uns die Landschaft. Das untergeschoss führt ins Maritime Museum mit einer Reihe historischer Fischerboote und allem anderen Gerät für die Fischerei. Es läuft ein Film der das Leben der Fischer bis zum Anfang oder der Mitte des letzten Jahrhunderts zeigt - überaus beeindruckend, kann auch auf DVD erworben werden und ist sonst...
