TIRAMISU! After travelling through Paris, Brussels, New York City, San Francisco, LA, Rome, Pisa and Florence, sampling along the way, I arrive in Husavik and find the best tiramisu in the world. Also, this may seem like a small thing, but when we arrived the young lady got up from what she was doing, smiled and asked what we would like, implyig that customers were her priority. It was just the opening glimpse of a very courteous and warm feeling about the whole experience. The only bad part was that everything was so delicious that we ate too much. The counterbalance was that after eating at Herna, everything else for the next few weeks was boring by comparison so we tended to order less because it was clearly not as fantastic as this little coffee shop / eatery in Husavik. Finally, after being charmed by the food and friendliness, we bought a little water color painting hanging on the wall. While paying for it, we learned from the owner/manager of the coffee shop that he is the artist and he gets up early in the morning before dawn to go out on a commerical fishing boat, then opens his coffee shop and goes home to paint each night. Upon returning home, I decided any country with this level of industriousness, we saw repeatedly thorughout Iceland, is worth investing in and bought some "Glaciershares Nasdaq Iceland ETF" (GLCR). Informed risk.

If you fancy frequenting an enchanting café in Húsavik serving home-style daily specials and/or cakes & treats with a really good cup of coffee ... Hérna (that means Here in Icelandic) is the place to visit!👍😊👍 Olga, who owns the place together with her sister-in-law Elín (the hairdresser next door to café), had dreamt about opening a cozy place for many years where locals and visitors alike could drop in to enjoy beverages, tasty home-style sweets and food made with seasonal produce from neighbouring suppliers. 👍😊👍 Well, I think she has truly succeeded and her dream has come true ... as her café is usually filled with enchanted customers 😊 😍😊 including myself & my friends! I loved the freshly, made from scratch tomato soup served with bread & Icelandic butter and my friends were thrilled with their delish veggie quiche and salad.😋😍😋 The coffee and the yummy Kransakökur ( marzipan cookies)we had for dessert were tops ... as well as the service. 👍😊👍 Definitely a place I recommend and look forward to visiting again! 😊

I really have a hard time justifying the overall high rating, based on my expericence. The staff was very passive and barely interactive. In such positions I value politeness and hospitality a lot and in their case they barely looked at us, let alone give us a friendly smile or smth. The filtered coffee was not tasty and of rather bad quality. The bread and cheese plate was basic but ok. Also I noticed that the moment we got up to visit the toilet they rushed to pick our plates and clean our table. The layout was casual and pretty nice. But all in all I would never pay a second visit.
