Fish and chips in a generous portion… not particularly crispy fish. The seasoned breading is a bit different from the usual. Avoid eating indoors as the room doesn’t exactly inspire culinary confidence. And for heaven’s sake, do not visit the restroom — it looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in 25 years. Lovely view of the harbor from the first-floor terrace. One can’t help but wonder whether there are any authorities in Iceland that inspect restaurants and their kitchens at all. A plus was the availability of hand sanitizer. They really ought to introduce a “smiley” hygiene rating system like in other countries, so customers have at least some assurance of sanitary standards.

Best fish & chips I’ve ever had. Beats British hands down. Get the cocktailsósa (2 pots if you love your sosá) and pot of salt seasoning. Dip your chip in the sósa then dab in the seasoning - this is what food in heaven must taste like. I am not a fan of heavily battered fish and this Icelandic version only uses a thin layer with only a gentle crisp - it is more moist than crisp. The cod is caught and processed by GPG across the parking lot - it melts in your mouth (I was informed that the same family owns both GPG and this restaurant). Eat with your hands to feel like a true viking. Don’t ask for ketchup - you won’t want it (and I love ketchup - hence asking for it).

Only ordered the fish and chips and a beer. You won't be receiving the traditional British type of fish and chips where it's battered fresh cod with vinegar, but pieces of battered and possibly re-heated fish pieces (but I don't know that for sure) and normal store bought french fries (McDonald's comes to mind). The French fries tasted average, but needed more salt. The fish pieces didn't really taste much of anything. They had free Heinz ketchup packets, so there's that. The beer (Viking Gylltur) was okay. Nothing special. Mostly disappointed in the meal, but maybe I had the wrong expectations.

While I cannot say I have been all around the world I have travelled quit a bit and this was hands down the best fish-and-chips I have ever had in my 40 years on this earth. We went for a whale watching trip and purposely did not eat before for fear of sea sickness. So by the time we were done we were starving and instinctively picked the closest place to the dock and so happy we did. The fish was as fresh as you can ever ask for and the owner confirmed that he caught the cod himself in the very bay we were looking at. The portions were quite generous and compared to the rest of Iceland's food prices I thought it was an excellent deal. It has been a week since I have had it and everyday I wish I could be...
