I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Sri Krishna Science Centre in Patna, Bihar, and I must say it was a truly enlightening experience. This institution, named after the first chief minister of Bihar, serves as a branch of the National Council of Science Museums and aims to educate visitors by providing practical exposure to the wonders of science. Here's a detailed review of my visit:
Serene Atmosphere: The centre's location on the outskirts of Patna offers a serene and peaceful environment. The lush green garden surrounding the premises adds to the overall charm of the place, making it a perfect getaway from the bustling city.
Sun Dial at Entrance: As you enter, you'll be greeted by a fascinating sun dial that accurately shows time based on the movement of the sun. It's a wonderful way to connect with the natural world and get a glimpse of the scientific principles at play.
Ground Floor Attractions: The ground floor boasts a range of captivating exhibits. The Fun Science Gallery is engaging and interactive, catering to visitors of all ages. The Energy Ball demonstration section and Organ Pipes offer hands-on experiences, while the Curving Train and Infinite Train provide mind-bending illusions. Other highlights include the Lazy Tubes, Momentum Multiplier, and the enchanting Magic Tap.
First Floor Delights: The first floor houses the Mirror Section, where you can explore intriguing optical illusions, and the Ocean Life section, which showcases the diverse marine ecosystem. Scientific principles are brought to life through fascinating applications, and the Human Evolution exhibit sheds light on our ancestors and their journey.
Second Floor Marvels: The second floor offers an in-depth exploration of evolution, including life, plants, human beings, and the Earth itself. The DNA structure exhibit provides a comprehensive understanding of our genetic makeup. The highlight, however, is the Jurassic Park, with its lifelike dinosaur structures and captivating sound effects that are sure to captivate children and adults alike.
3D Show: Don't miss the incredible 3D shows held at regular intervals throughout the day. Using state-of-the-art polarization technology, these 20-minute shows bring science to life by making objects appear to leap out of the screen. Spectacles are provided to enhance the viewing experience.
Vishvaroopa Exhibition: The gallery dedicated to the Vishvaroopa exhibition explores the fascinating connection between biodiversity and Indian mythology and philosophy. It offers a unique perspective on the harmony between science and spirituality.
Science Park and Cafeteria: The Science Park provides an excellent learning environment for children, where they can play and discover scientific concepts simultaneously. If you need a break, there is a small cafeteria that offers meals and snacks to refuel and refresh.

Auto rickshaws are readily available from the main city, and the centre is also accessible via the Mithapur bus stand, located 6-7 km away, or the Patna Junction railway station.
