I went to Varkala primarily to do a panchakarma as I had broken my ankle the year before and it was still causing a lot of pain and I had gained a lot of weight from not being able to exercise. I actually had chosen an alternative panchakarma centre but after 10 days I was not happy with the service, treatments or food being offered there. I was recommended to have a consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor at Ayushi Ayurveda Centre and as soon as I met the doctor there I knew I wanted to complete my program there. I had already completed 10 days with the other centre, so I arranged to have a further 10 days at Ayushi. Doctor Diviya is such a warm, kind, knowledgeable, experienced Ayurvedic doctor and she advised me on which treatments to have to properly detox my body and to help to loose weight and she also suggested an amazing treatment especially to help my swollen ankle with healing the ligaments. She also went through my doshas and advised what food would be beneficial for me and which foods I should be cutting out from my diet. The food was very good, simple satwick/Ayurvedic food especially prepared and cooked by the cook, and it was prepared exactly for my dosa (kapha/pita). And Zubin the owner would always be explaining the ingredients and sending me the links of certain vegetables I was eating to know and understand the benefits of them. The treatments and therapies were of very high standard . The senior therapist working there has years of experience and puts 100% of her energy into every treatment she gives. The treatment room is very clean and kept well. All the Ayurvedic oils used are of high quality. I completed my 10 days but decided to get full benefits so I extended my treatments for another 4 days, as I was loosing weight and my ankle with the treatment being used daily, seemed to be helping a lot. I did not stay at their accommodation as I had already pre-booked an alternative guest house but I do recommend if you’re doing the panchakarma treatments to stay there as the rooms are very nice and spacious with a lovely garden to relax. You can also just go to the centre to have daily Ayurvedic treatments without doing the actual panchakarma. Zubin and Sunil the owners, are both lovely helpful guys and will ensure your time and experience at their centre is an enjoyable one. I highly recommend this centre for your time spent in...

I chose Ayushi because of the good reviews but I was very disappointed after my first treatment as it wasn't what was promised.. Apparently there was a misunderstanding with the therapist though and I got the proper treatment the following day which was very good.

The doctor seemed knowledgeable and suggested me a therapeutical massage/yoga streching + elazikizhi treatment. I specifically asked if the massage was going to be the typical oil rubbing which I'd already had and didn't enjoy much. They said that it would be a deep tissue therapeutic massage. This is the only reason I accepted to pay their higher price as I could have gotten a normal massage elsewhere for half price. However the therapist seemed to be oblivious to my medical issues and I got the typical oil rubbing even though I mentioned to her what I had discussed with the doctor. The kizhi was 30 min instead of promised 45 min and I wasn't very comfortable as it burned my skin.

However, I went to complain the next day and the staff agreed with me that I hadn't received the appropriate treatment so I got another treatment for free with another therapist. The massage was pretty good but they still used too much oil. I also got a second kizhi treatment which was perfect! They also showed me some yoga streching techniques, I felt very relaxed afterwards. So I could recommend this place, but make sure you get the treatment you...

I had a very good ayurveda treatment experience at Ayushi the past 2 weeks.

The place is quiet, clean, only a 5-10 min. walk from the beautiful north cliff of Varkala beach with it’s nice little shops and resto’s along the side. Ayushi has 3 partner owners who are all very helpfull and alternately on the premise, also the manager is very willing to answer your questions and organise whatever you wish for. They are always interested in how you are doing and do whatever they can to help you getting the best out of your treatment and stay. The food is yummie and the kitchen staff is só friendly! There is 24h attendance on the premise.

Also the ayurveda doctor is available throughout the day (except for Sundays) for questions or check-up. During the intake, you run through your medical history and a brief examination. After that the doctor prescribes a customized treatment plan with diet advice, massages, medicins and other ayuveda treatments. The treatments are good and helpfull!

Also daily yoga lessons are avaible and recommended. And all of this for a...

This is the best place in Varkala to get proper professional ayurvedic treatments. After trying in a few other clinics different massages, I finally had the chance to be treated in Ayushi and I loved it. From the moment I arrived at the clinic I was impressed by the professional but warm attitude of the staff. Mr. Zubin, the manager and owner, is an expertise in consultation with many years of experience behind. He is also a professional in yoga therapy and ayurveda therapy and is a qualified TTC yoga instructor, so he could advise me properly about what I needed and for how long and discussed with the doctor the best options for me. Besides, there are excellent doctors in the property (female and male) and also very good therapists (female and male). I got an amazing massage by a lovely female therapist that left me like new. Moreover, the clinic is fully equipped and I had the opportunity to had a warm bath to remove all the oil before leaving the place (I really appreciated that).

I really enjoyed my Indian trip to Varkala , Kerala in November 2024. My friends recommended me to stay at Ayushi Ayurvedic Retreat and it was the right choice! This Small and authentic clinic with hotel rooms is located 5 minutes from the ocean. After receiving the results of the medical tests, the attentive doctors Shahin and Hasna suggested a comprehensive Ayurvedic treatment. I was very lucky to be in the hands of an experienced massage therapist Prasad. He helped to resolve problems with my back and water retention and literally revitalised me! I also appreciated the warm atmosphere of hospitality and the desire to introduce guests as much as possible to the culinary and cultural traditions of Kerala.
