Ernakulam Tirumala Devaswom Temple is a Hindu and GSB (Gowda Saraswat Brahmins) temple. It is one of the oldest temples in Kerala and is existent for more than 200 years. There is a banyan tree which makes a good place for people to come together and talk. Many cultural events are held in the temple. It is a very calm area between the hustle and bustle of the city.

Ernakulam Tirumala Devaswom Temple, also known as Gosripuram, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Situated in the heart of Mattancherry, Ernakulam, Kerala, India, this temple holds immense significance for the Gowda Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) community, serving as their central socio-religious institution.

Here are some of the reasons why Ernakulam Tirumala Devaswom Temple stands out as a remarkable pilgrimage destination:

Rich History and Cultural Heritage: The temple's history dates back to the 16th century, when the GSB community migrated from Goa to Kerala. The temple's architecture and traditions reflect a harmonious blend of Goan and Kerala cultures, making it a unique cultural landmark.

Spiritual Significance and Devotion: The temple is deeply revered by the GSB community, who consider Lord Venkateswara as their Kuladevata (family deity). The temple's tranquil atmosphere and serene ambiance provide a conducive environment for spiritual seekers to connect with the divine.

Architectural Splendor and Intricate Artwork: The temple's architecture showcases a blend of traditional South Indian and Goan styles. The intricate carvings, sculptures, and murals adorning the temple walls and ceilings speak volumes about the artistic craftsmanship of the era.

Annual Festivals and Celebrations: The temple comes alive during its annual festivals, such as the Brahmotsavam and the Deepavali celebrations. These vibrant festivals attract devotees from far and wide, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere.

Community Hub and Social Welfare Activities: Beyond its religious significance, the temple serves as an important community hub for the GSB community. The temple's management actively engages in social welfare activities, providing education, healthcare, and support to the...

Saraswaths, who lived on the banks of the great mythical and extinct river Saraswathi migrated to Thrihotrapura (Thirhut, Bihar) and to Gomachala (Goa), and down to Ernakulam along with other coastal settlements in Kerala. The Saraswaths prefix the word 'Gowd' to their name, meaning that they belong to the five classes of Panchagowdas, northern Brahmins. The Gowda Saraswaths were motivated to propagate the Venkateswara cult by the Great Vaishnava Guru Madhwacharya. This temple is dedicated to this community and has very interesting temple atmosphere compared to other Kerala temples. In month of January, there is a 8 days festival celebrated, with various types of ceremonies and celebration throughout 8 days period with chariots, elephant, and...
