Cafe Canopy | MG Road — Restaurant in Kerala

I have been frequenting this restaurant since 2013 with my friends. It used to be a restaurant offering quality food and service on reasonable rates. I had gone to this restaurant today for having dinner with my colleagues, which changed my opinion about this restaurant. We faced the following issues and will never visit this restaurant again.

Unprofessional service: We were given disposable glasses as we are in a street food spot. When enquired, we were informed that it is in line with the Covid guidelines!!! While taking the order, the staff missed two of the starter dishes and later claimed that we never ordered it. We reminded him couple of times during the meal to bring the starters, at that time he said that it is being prepared and later claimed that we had not ordered those dishes. Many of the street food joints in the vicinity provide better service than this.

Deteriorating food quality: The quality of food over here used to be really great, but today we received chicken pepper masala, which was not fresh. We had ordered chilli chicken, which we were not able to differentiate from chilli Paneer. When we asked the staff which dish it is, he took it back to the kitchen to confirm what it is. Only the fried rice and the seafood dishes were good and the rest of the dishes were not fit enough to be served in such a...

I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and they gave me chicken. Being a vegetarian I unfortunately had to take couple of bites to realize that it’s not what I ordered. The waiter who took the order came and apologized saying he took the order correctly but it was served at the wrong table. But how come my watermelon juice also accompanied the grilled chicken sandwich? Anyway, this has happened to me before also at another restaurant. That time I chose to forgive, but this time let this be a lesson to do your work with responsibility. Why don’t you waiters properly note down the order in a small book and assign table numbers so as to not make mistakes. What are these so called managers doing? So I have learned a lesson now to always always double check your food before starting to eat. I wouldn’t be visiting canopy for life. Let the standards of our country rise. And this review is one way to raise the standards. And to all vegetarians please check your order everywhere...

There were like 10 of us. We went there for lunch..it was al okay.. the tawa chicken biriyani rice was a little too dry but the rest was alright and good enough, BUT the ice cream we ordered was very bad....we ordered a kesar badam ice cream which was so sticky( like how you take a pizza out from the rest of its portion). I asked later whether it is actually alright and the manager responded saying there was some issues and it was not hardening like the rest of the flavours. He asked whether we wanted another one..we respectfully declined but a few minutes later they sent us the same thing and billed it too.
