The Babu Amichand Panalal Adishwarji Shwetambar Jain Temple, located at Walkeshwar, Mumbai, is one of the most revered Jain temples in the city. It was built in 1904 by the renowned businessman and philanthropist Babu Amichand Panalal. The temple is dedicated to Lord Adishwar (Rishabhdev), the first Tirthankara of Jainism.

Architecturally, the temple is a magnificent structure showcasing intricate marble carvings, ornate pillars, and stunning craftsmanship that reflect the grandeur of traditional Jain temples. The temple's sanctum is adorned with an idol of Lord Adishwarji, made of white marble, symbolizing purity and spiritual tranquility. Surrounding the main idol are smaller idols of other Jain Tirthankaras, adding to the divine ambiance.

The temple is not just a place of worship but also a center for various community activities. Devotees come here to participate in religious ceremonies, seek blessings, and find peace through prayer and meditation. The atmosphere within the temple is serene, offering a tranquil space amid the bustling city life.

Its location in Walkeshwar, near the famous Banganga Tank, makes it a prominent religious and cultural site in Mumbai. The temple is especially crowded during Jain festivals like Paryushan and Mahavir Jayanti, when devotees gather to offer their prayers and engage in spiritual practices.

Babu Amichand (Mota) Derasar is one of the oldest and most beautiful Jain temples, over 100 years old, located right on the main road — so parking might be a bit tricky.

As you enter, you’ll find a shoe rack to leave your footwear, with a flower seller a water facility near the gate. The temple is spacious, filled with hundreds of idols of Tirthankar Bhagwans and Padmavati Devi, each corner intricately carved and beautifully painted. The walls tell stories, making it feel like you’re walking through history.

There’s even a donation box where you can contribute to temple activities, including Jeevdaya (animal care). Don’t miss the upper floor, which adds to the serenity and grandeur of this...

This is one of beautiful derasar you can visit when you are in Mumbai. To travel in Mumbai it is easy to get taxi or bus. If you are using bus then best advice I would give is to buy a ticket of 50 bucks (not sure may be less) but then you can use this ticket everywhere. No need of buying new tickets even if you change routes or buses. You can use this ticket whole day for the bus journey which saves lil money. This dersar is in walkeshwar and you can get down at Rekha sedan bus stop which is just opposite to the derasar. You can have a beautiful view of chowpaty from the first floor of the temple.
