Quick Pointers -
✓ Parking 🅿️ of 4 wheeler is available in Semmozhi poonga opposite to this park. They charge Rs.100/- for the same.
✓ Need to book entry, amusement and kids play tickets only online which some may not be comfortable for few especially elders. The government needs to start issuing tickets across the counter too.
✓ Though there is timing mentioned online, they are not adhered to. Example - Aviary was supposed to close at 4pm as per the website, but it was open even at 5:30pm during our visit. Either timing is wrongly mentioned or they are liberal. Either way it is good for visitors like us.
✓ Musical 🎵 🎶 fountain ⛲ -- It was partly good. Ticket 🎟️ 🎫 cost is Rs.50/- per person which is ok. Prefer going to the musical 🎵 🎶 fountain ⛲ at 7:10pm slot in place of 6:30pm slot so that it is more pleasing in dark.
✓ Aviary -- Instead of seeing birds in a cage, we go inside the cage and see 😜 We can simply skip it considering the ticket cost of Rs.150/- (Rs.500/- for feeding). Some of the birds look dirty. Not worth the money at all 😔
✓ Glass house -- It is Air conditioned place with some flowers and plants in ground floor. First floor has cactus 🌵 varities which is better than ground floor. Ticket cost of Rs.50/- is ok considering the AC cost.
✓ Tree house -- Good one for kids. Especially in lights. No ticket cost.
✓ Lot of places to take photos including the fog 🌫️ walk, artificial waterfalls, flowers 🌼 drawn pebble walkway etc. which are worthy for the entrance ticket of Rs.100/-
✓ Kids rides and toy train 🚂 cost of Rs.50/- each are ok. Zipline not available during our visit. Children's play area is also available for them to enjoy.
Overall it was a well maintained place for families to spend some time within Chennai. Recommend everyone to visit during gloomy days to avoid sweating. Pricing is definitely on the higher side when compared to government attractions which they may consider reducing...
Read moreParking: No parking for cars on crowded weekends. Opposite Semmozhi poonga parking is not sufficient. This causes chaos for others who are using cathedral road. Just a matter of time before US embassy escalates about the traffic chaos because of this. Entry tickets: Don't know why the tickets are issued outside the gate. There should be proper queue inside park premises to stand and buy tickets. People are standing in the roadside in hot sun. There should be enough promotion about online tickets and encourage people to take online tickets as a package. Canteen: Just one canteen which is not sufficient for large crowd. Takes a lot of time for billing and finding place to sit and dine is not easy. Zip line: Demand is high so wait time is much high as well. Also, when we visited couple of people got stuck in the middle. Not sure if it is worth the long wait. Aviary: Feeding birds was the only good thing for us. Some people pointed out that birds look tired so I suggest this will be best if done before lunch. Glass house: Not worth the money. Tree house for kids: Just a small setup, nothing much. Kids rides: 3 paid rides of Rs.50 each. People in-charge of the rides are very helpful and accommodating but our fellow visitors keep jumping the queue, trying to fit in the kids in ride even before it reaches ground level. Need a proper queue here. Horticulture department/ whoever is managing day to day crowd are trying their best to accommodate people but some planning required from higher authorities for crowd control, parking bottleneck and other issues. Positive Rating is for the hard work of people in the park + police authorities outside who despite heavy crowd and impatient visitors keep their cool and try to be pleasant in their words and actions. Request: Visit on a non-crowded day to really enjoy the park. To authorities if you are reading - find ways to manage crowd, promote online ticket and sell them as package. Provide at least 2 Canteen - one for lunch & other for...
