I visited this place after so many years, after such a long time, I accessed this place and now they have indoor seating space as well, unlike grab and eat while standing on the streets before.
They have added many items apart from kati rolls such as North Indian and Indianised Chinese or sino Indian cuisine, which is also Indian adaptation or desi Chinese street style as whatever the people know.
So I tried the single paneer tikka kati roll, it was soft, moist and juicy paneer inside the kati roll, it was not too greasy which is good and the filling and sauces where properly generous and the taste was good.
Next tried the veg Hakka noodles, the vegetables where fresh and crunchy, it was good, but the oil and salt content, I found a bit too much than expected and they added less black pepper powder which was not at all giving spicy kick too the noodles, for normal adults and who prefer spicy, tell them to add pepper so that it can be chatpata where anyone can enjoy the spiciness in my opinion.
Lastly tried the malai lassi, they served in a mirror bottle and was kept in the commercial refrigerator for cooling, visually, initially some lassi inside the bottle was separated by the water inside the bottle, so I asked them to give another one, which they eventually gave and although, I tasted cardomom powder in lassi and malai cream made from saffron, which was overpowering and dominating, I would prefer simple lassi and no added extra spices such as cardomom, saffron or other spices which goes in dessert or cold beverages, I would avoid.
Overall, it’s a fairly decent place to grab kati rolls and they also have Chinese platter and other...

Read moreFrankies serve as a quick and filling bite when hunger calls in roaring. What started as a simple outlet for such rolls now dishes out meal bowls & trays, combos, starters, a limited choice of 'off menu' beverages and sadly though, no desserts. Despite the presence of more dine options around its neighbourhood, The Kati Roll Shop at Gopalapuram Chennai has jostled for its space and done reasonably well at it .Boasting clean, bright interiors with limited seating, self service mode, the pricing is apt and the portions, generous. The bowl meal was sumptuous and the fries were hot and crispy. The rolls were well filled and tasted good but lacked something which am unable to put a finger on. It's probably the lack of that tad bit of tanginess which I had come to expect of my kati rolls. And, that's...
