In my experience one of the peaceful and very space full temple in Chennai. Very powerful and oldest temple which is located in the center of the Chennai area. This temple maintained by the government. Have surveillance cameras surround the temple.. Less parking fecilities. We can't park our 4 wheeler outside of temple. Outside the temple we can buy all the pooja things .. Arulmigu sri kolavizhi amman temple is located very near to Arulmigu Sri Vaaleeswarar Templ. Arulmigu Sri Kareneswarar Temple and local person told that the mylapore name came from this deity. Very ancient temple but renovated and maintained clearly. Lord Sri Kolavizhi amman in the form of goddess maa kaali and standing in the slanting position. Very powerful deity and a sub temple of Mylapore Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple

From Mundakanni Amman temple just yards away is Kolavizhi Amman temple. Being another form of Goddess Kali, the belief is during Chithirai thiruvizha kodi yetram starts from this temple. Being Aadi month that too yesterday aadi pooram the whole temple is decorated with bangles. As you enter the temple first God you see is Hanuman followed by Vinayaka, then main deity, Sapthakannis, and as you come out you can’t miss Sulam weapon of Goddess and last are the Nagar statues just before exit. There is a well filled with locks on the exterior. It’s a kind of worship followed here. Navarathri, Thai month, kuzh Prasadam are popular here. Fridays and tuesdays this temple is usually crowded.

More powerful and Historic temple with good maintanance by the devotees and temple employees. All must visit this ammann temple and then need to visit Kapaleeshwar temple as this Amman is the Athi Devathai of Muylapore and even before the Kabali temple festival starts they will office prayer here to Mother Godess and later will start all the Functions in many temles. Godess named as Kolavizhi Amman and Badhrakali amman showe their blessings to all the devotees who visit here with bhakthi in mind.
