Ascott Sudirman – I love this concept of an apartment hotel. It’s so spacious with a full kitchen a generous living and dining area with a large dining table. We were traveling as a family of 5 so we booked the 3 bedroom apartment and stayed 3 nights. The suite came with 3 bathrooms so each room has a corresponding bathroom. The 5 of us didn't need to waiting for a free bathroom. The linens and bedding were soft and lofty. Good comfortable beds and furniture.
The staff were very friendly and practically tripping over each other trying to be accommodating. We appreciated the gracious understanding and support during a small family crisis in the middle of the night.
The restaurant breakfeast buffet was included and had plenty of options of nicely prepared local dishes with plenty of fruit and desert treats. I would book this place again in a heart beat if I’m ever back in Jakarta. The cost was very favorable, less than booking an equivalent 3 rooms in a traditional hotel. Security was excellent. The gardens were neat and tidy. A huge western standard shopping mall was within 10-15 minute walk east from the Ascott.
Do not confuse which location you are booking because there are 5 similar Ascotts in Jakarta. Even our airport taxi driver dropped us off at the wrong place despite me telling them I booked at the Ascott Sudirman. This resulted in me having to get another taxi to take me to the right place. Doormen, front desk staff, night security were all terrific.
Cons and areas that could be improved: there’s a dishwasher en suite, but no dishwasher detergent for the machine. Kitchen had some utensils and cooking pots but no dish cloths. Limited cutlery or missing for the amount of potential guests. Not enough glass ware for the amount of potential guests in each suite. You can’t grab a coffee and have it to go to take it to the room (as I like to do when I get up early). When I asked for this the hostess for the buffet restaurant looked at me as if I had 2 heads. She said she’d check with the manager, but never did get back to me.
The pool water parameters could be better balanced. I feel it was somewhat under chlorinated during our time there. The areas immediately outside of the property were definitely not pedestrian friendly. The traffic just outside the hotel property is horrendous, but in fairness similar to all areas of Jakarta. The bank of light switches, although high tech (and possibly on a relay circuit) lacked labeling telling what it’s for. You have to flick every switch just to figure which one light on you want on. A key card was required to be put in place inside a card holder for the electricity come on. This means you could arrive into a hot suite if you don’t leave a card in there. They need a third or fourth cappuccino machine as you often had to wait in a queue.

Read moreI checked in on the 26th of January and was very disappointed with the reception team that day. We arrived at 3.30 PM. There were three receptionists present, but two of them were focused solely on their screens and didn’t even greet the customers. Several guests cut in line to check in, and the staff neither noticed nor addressed the issue. This was very unprofessional, as they completely ignored the fact that I had been waiting in line for quite some time. Having just traveled from another city, we were already tired, and the poor service only worsened the experience.
Additionally, we were initially assigned a room we didn’t want—a two-bedroom apartment with two queen beds. When we inquired about the room, the reception staff claimed the hotel was fully booked and even suggested adding an extra bed instead. After several arguments, they eventually changed our room, but we had to wait an additional 20 minutes.
As an ASR member, I was extremely disappointed with the service I received. I usually stay at the Ascott Kuningan Jakarta, where I always have a pleasant customer service experience. Based on that, I decided to try another ASR property, but this experience was disappointing, and I cannot recommend it.
UPDATE: The manager, Aulia, contacted me today, after we had already checked out, to apologize for the issue. However, he had already responded to my review yesterday, during our stay, which means he was aware of the problem but still did not reach out to us directly at the time to offer an apology or resolution. After we left, Aulia offered a free upgrade for a future stay, which was pointless. as he required me to book another stay to use it. If the gesture had been sincere, the manager should have addressed our concerns during our stay and provided a satisfactory solution at that time. Unfortunately, even the manager failed to handle the situation appropriately.
Honestly, I’m speechless about the service I received. Especially after receiving the apology from Aulia and the offer he made, which asked me to book again for a future stay, it worsened Ascott Sudirman’s credibility in my view. Even the manager could not provide the best representation of the property. In conclusion, if you're looking for a relaxing and family-friendly stay, it’s probably best to choose another property, as this one is not worth the...
Read moreHorrible experience while residing at Ascott Sudirman Hotel for our 3rd time. We were on a smaller-scale privately executable pet-friendly animal rescue mission while providing for our 13 formerly stray cute kitties and dogs, but Ascott Sudirman Jakarta was reluctant to offer us any better pricing than to reserve nearly 4 larger suites (altogether making up 8 separated rooms) but not providing us with any decent pricing options, forgetting to add taxes much mandatory in all quotes, and then finally abusing our trust and saying we are not good clients and dismissing us from their hotel which we had already paid for. We gave such negative reviews over to this hotel as even so I trusted its management, and I like how their employees behave, we were misguided and not due diligently assisted and will no longer stay inside this very hotel. They are not trustworthy people and even though the location is good, this area can hardly be considered as "pet-friendly" as we found at least 15 stray animals lying in filth sitting right in front the hotel or in its surrounding zone which is miserable to see and co-invested in their health and well-being. I have medical proof to show how many skin or lungs diseases all those cutest pets are carrying and that it is all transmittable to a human, like ringworm / lichen (or dermatophytosis) that is easily transmittable over and onto our human skin or lungs. It is pitiful to see what humans can do to our own selves or to our pet-friendly and gently-inclined humanely companions, such as all those ill-looking or sitting weird right in front of the hotel or lying on the side of the road cute doggies or cute kitties (no feral animals, they were all domesticated such a long time ago and require a good human companionship and decent dwelling, not to be dismissed out of a person's good homey...
