This would be a poor assumption and my husband learned the hard way. We were standing at the sandy Bay end of the “safety” barrier (me being a bit of a chicken was standing back a fair bit). The ground was dry. Nature was putting on a wonderful show! A huge wave came and soaked my husband. As he walked away another came straight after and knocked him flying! He was injured quite badly, both feet and knees in a terrible state. There was no one around to render assistance and there is no first aid anywhere to be seen! Long story short, we ended up flying back to Australia and he has just spent 2 nights in hospital. I have since googled, and have found so many articles about accidents and even 7 deaths within a 6 month period! I can’t even comprehend how this place is still open to tourists!!! At the very least the barriers should be pushed back out of reach of the largest wave, would only probably be another...
