Villa Canggu by Elite Havens — Hotel in Pulau Bali

We booked the villa very early before Mt Agung gave any signs of erupting. For a few weeks we didnt know whether it would be possible at all to travel to Bali. This was after we paid a full amount.

When I contacted the agent to see what possible arrangement is in place in case we could not come at all because of the eruption such as to come at a mutually agreeable time, the answer was a complete silent. Which was very very disappointing considering the amount we paid on a high season week. I expect a better and more professional answer. A kinder consideration. You have that in most luxury rentals.

Just remember this when you book.

Love the staff. Very helpful and attentive. A few minutes walk to the beach and very close to restaurants and boutiques. Impressive design throughout but not energy efficient. Many design flaws in the master bathroom and everywhere else. ...difficult to have a shower without flooding the whole bathroom. The sink is black leaving white spots every time we wash hands. The walkway going down to the bedrooms downstairs is uncovered leaving lots of water during rainy season. An accident waiting to happen.

The glass door gave an open space feel throughout but didn't block sunlight enough and harder to cool down. Needs a bigger fridge in the living room.

We also saw finger marks everywhere especially on doors and white walls.

Overall needs a tender...

Villa Canggu North - 2 bedroom We stayed for 7 nights.

Location - 5 stars. Beach is 2 mins down the road. If you like spinning, Zycle is across the street. Quiet street and walking distance to Canggu’s busy areas. At night, you can hear bass pumping in the distance (never figured out where it came from).

Manager and staff - 5 stars. Very friendly and helpful. When we were brainstorming things to do, they were helpful with ideas. Great with meals and always ready to offer more coffee, juice or water when we need it. Always refreshing towels. If you need anything, they get right on it.

Villa - 5 star for pool, garden and book collection. 1 star for upkeep. Everything seems old and dusty - the bookshelf, the sound system. When I plopped down on the chaise lounge, there was a puff of dust and dead insect wings. The water machine broke once and leaked water all over. The wiring for the stair’s lights is loose, so sometimes the stairs are dark at night (dangerous). The wardrobe smells musty. The upstairs sinks take a while to drain. The floors are cracked (big crack in the downstairs bathroom, you can lift up parts of the floor).

Meals - breakfast is the BEST, I highly recommend it. We had 1 lovely Indonesian dinner (gado gado, satays, sate lilit and nasi goreng). The seafood BBQ is so-so. I think you can get better beach bbq elsewhere.

The villa needs maintenance...

Our stay at Villa Canggu was absolutely incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with the kindest hospitality and care. We were assisted by Wayan, who went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. She provided anything and everything we needed without hesitation. Truly one of the sweetest and most attentive people I’ve ever met!

Adi was also amazing! He made himself available to answer all of our questions about night life and even helped us plan a surprise for my cousin’s birthday, which turned out perfectly. His kindness and knowledge made our experience even more special.

We came to celebrate my cousin’s birthday, and staying at this villa made it an experience we will never forget. The property is incredibly peaceful the perfect mix of luxury and serenity. We started our mornings with yoga on the property, followed by daily massages that made us feel completely relaxed and rejuvenated.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were always served on time, and the food was delicious every single day! Anytime we wanted something extra, the staff didn’t hesitate to go to the store to get it for us. The level of care and attention to detail here is unmatched.
