We’ve been coming to The Bench almost once or twice a week since December 2024. We’ve always loved the vibes and the service, it used to be one of our favorite spots. Unfortunately, tonight changed that.
We were playing pool and, based on our past visits, the usual unwritten rule is: whoever loses gives up the table. Two separate groups politely asked if they could play next, and we agreed.. if we lost, it would be their turn. But when those two groups were ready, a random guy and his group suddenly walked straight to the table, acting like it was their turn, without asking anyone.
What followed was a 10 minute debate that made the whole area uncomfortable. I explained calmly that we already promised the next turn to the two groups who asked first. Instead of listening, the guy started yelling at me like he was drunk. I asked nicely if he was, just to keep things respectful, but he got aggressive and gave me that talk "do you know the rules? do you know this place?" super close to my face acting like he wanted to intimidate or fight me. I’m a woman, but I’m not afraid of people trying to act like they “run the place.” some even said this guy "penguasa disini." for real?
It wasn’t just me who felt this way, multiple people around us were clearly uncomfortable, and some even left. It’s honestly shocking that this kind of behavior is tolerated here. The Bench used to feel like a fun, safe space. But if this is the kind of crowd that’s allowed in now, people who think being loud and aggressive gives them control then I don’t feel safe coming back.
Pool should be for everyone. It’s about having fun, being respectful, and enjoying good company not playing power games. I hope management takes a closer look at how situations like this are handled moving forward.
Thanks, but I won’t be returning unless safety and mutual respect are clearly...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of watching the Euro's football matches at The Bench Sport Bar in Canggu, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the thrilling games between Germany, France, Spain, and England to the lively atmosphere, this place had it all.
As you can imagine, with a crowd filled with passionate football fans, there was a lot of drinking and noise. However, what impressed me the most was how well the venue was managed. The staff did an excellent job of creating the right playlist and providing pregame entertainment, which led to great sing-alongs and an incredible energy throughout the night.
What truly stood out to me was the fact that despite the excitement and high spirits, there was no trouble whatsoever. The team of staff and security at The Bench ensured that the environment remained electric but also safe for everyone.
I had the pleasure of attending the England vs. Netherlands game with my 18-year-old son and his best mate, and I can confidently say that it was the night of our lives. Not only did we witness a fantastic match, but the overall experience at The Bench Canggu played a significant role in making it unforgettable.
I highly recommend The Bench Sport Bar to any football enthusiasts or anyone looking for a vibrant and well-managed venue. It truly exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to visit again...
Read moreWARNING to anyone:: dangerous place to visit.
Venue was good for friendly service and food however just a warning to any people going and leaving there, there is an Indonesian driver to the left of the venue that claims ownership on the street, we tried to order a Gojek out the front of the venue and was sworn at by this man saying he owned the street and we can’t order a Gojek unless with him. We said after the way he spoke to us there’s no way we would get on a bike with him and we wouldn’t feel safe.
We said we already had one on the way and he continued to swear and spit at us. When our Gojeks arrived he got on his bike and chased us down an alley way, cut our bikes off, punched my boyfriend unconscious on the ground and threw me ( a small young female) to the concrete ground, fractured my wrist to then throw me into the rice fields underwater.
Completely traumatising experience and I would warn any people, especially girls to stay away from this area. Extremely violent man- Completely unprovoked traumatic experience and wouldn’t visit the area again.
Please stay safe around this venue— there is no security outside this venue to help any people leaving and getting home safely.
Everything could’ve been avoided if they had security out the front to aid people...
