A Hidden Gem in Canggu for Food, Work, and Warm Hospitality

I stumbled upon Zin Cafe purely by chance while browsing Google Maps, and what a gem it turned out to be! I had just arrived in Canggu today, looking for a cozy and conducive space to finish my deliverables and Zin Cafe exceeded all my expectations.

At first glance, I was a little hesitant to enter, seeing the number of people inside. But as I looked closer, everyone was deeply immersed in their own worlds - working, reading, or simply enjoying their quiet moments. That gave me the courage to step in.

The ground floor was full, so I asked for assistance, and I am so grateful I did. I was warmly guided upstairs, where I found a perfect, comfy seat for myself. Without delay, I ordered their chocolate mousse non-coffee drink (a real treat!) and nasi goreng, as I had not had lunch yet after coming from Uluwatu. Let me tell you - it was delicious. Maybe I was starving, but I devoured every bite. Literally ate and left no crumbs!

As I settled in and stayed longer to work, I noticed a lot of people ordering the fresh coconut juice - so I had to try it too. No regrets. Refreshing and naturally sweet - just the way coconut juice should be. It is truly a staple, wherever you go.

Beyond the great food and drinks, what made my experience truly exceptional was the incredible service. I want to give a very special mention to Ms. Mayoni and Sri, who were both so attentive, warm, and fluent in English. Their kindness, patience, and ever-present smiles made me feel right at home. You do not always find such genuine hospitality and they truly deserve recognition for that.

First, I’d like to thank you for your response and attention to my feedback. However, I feel it’s important to share more details about my experience that were not addressed in your reply.

For the appetizers, we ordered the quesadilla, but it was completely missing the chicken and was filled with vegetables, which did not match the menu description. We also ordered the stuffed croquettes, requesting a fish filling instead of meat, but unfortunately, the filling was runny, tasteless, and quite disappointing.

As for the main courses, while the tenderloin was somewhat acceptable, the portion was very small and didn’t match the “hand-cut” description in the menu. The white sauce spaghetti was honestly one of the worst pasta dishes I’ve ever had – it tasted like plain cooking cream and processed cheese with no seasoning or spices whatsoever. The third dish, the chicken with yellow rice, was just okay but nothing outstanding.

To top it off, I asked for Tabasco and was given a bottle with just a drop left. There were no napkins provided at the table either, and when I requested them, I was given just one – something I’ve never experienced before in any restaurant.
