I had a meal at the Airfield Restaurant on Friday 27th March 2014. The staff are very professional and helpful but the menu is not good. My husband did like it however I have a serious medical condition and I did advise the staff of this as the menu is very confusing. We had our meal I only had a starter which was described as bacon and cabbage with an egg. It also had Dijon mustard with mash. I was very undecided but was reassured by the Waitress that it was not heavy and was very nice. She encouraged me to try it. I did. The egg was not cooked properly and I did not feel very well after it. I then foolishly had the rhubarb crumble which I have to say was very nice. As I was leaving the Restaurant I became very ill had to sit on one of the chairs near the door as I could not stand my stomach was so cramped and I felt faint. My husband had gone to the Restroom when he came back and found me he had to literally carry me out of the Restaurant and then once outside all my food came up. I have never been so sick in all my life I came home. I was so ill my husband wanted to call an ambulance but he got me to bed which I could not do unaided. Sadly it was a terrible experience and am still recovering. I will not be returning. Not one member of staff came to my assistance and the place only at that particular time only had 3 other people there. The food seems to be of a good quality but not cook properly. ...

Unfortunately, we had a very tough experience at airfield cafe. We drove down with high hopes, surely there would be lovely food since this is a working farm. We arrived ten to 12, just in time before breakfast closes, but we're told there were no more scrambled eggs. Generally not an issue, but sadly this only left two meals; porridge or breakfast with boiled eggs. None of which was appealing. Scones we're also out. Lunch wasn't served until half past 12 so we sat around for 30min. We then queued up again, hungry as wolves at 12:30, discovering the queue to order food already leading outside the building. Took us 25 min to order and receive food. We got back to our place to discover people had taken our chairs, jacket and my bag since we were gone for so long. Staff was friendly but helpless and seemed overwhelmed. The food was barely average, the quiches we ordered we're stone cold by the time we got to our seats, and overall it was just a bit dull. I really urge the restaurant management to please consider the layout of the cafe and how food turnover times are handled. It can be done smoothly, so please don't put families with kids through this. I was there with my fiance and we don't have any kids yet, but it must be an ever bigger nightmare for families! I would not recommend this place for breakfast or lunch, but can imagine afternoon coffee or tea with cake to be much more pleasant. Hope this helps anyone...

Very disappointed from start to finish. We were told the soup of the day, but only two of us heard, the waiter didn't wait for everyone to sit down. We weren't asked if we would like any drinks throughout the meal (just water on the table). The second waiter came over to take our order and then told us about the other specials of the day - too late at this stage. I ordered the goats cheese tart, it was a quiche - not a tart, a very small portion served with three tiny tomatoes and mixed leaves with barely any dressing. The small lamb portion (€18.50) was served 'pink', though how this is possible when it was supposed to be slow cooked according to the menu - I'm not quite sure! The other two members of our party ordered the smoked salmon and Camembert cheese. The cheese was scraped across a very thin piece of Guinness brown bread - the salmon was generous, however, the salad was terrible, one tomato and some mixed leaves.

The menu itself is limited. The explanation of each dish did not resemble what arrived to the table.

The portions are very small compared with the price tag associated. We were all so disappointed with the new revamped airfield (compared to the old, quaint, charming airfield) we did not stay for coffee and do not plan to revisit until the menu is adjusted.

The location and venue has plenty of potential, it just needs to be executed better. Hopefully this...

The airfield estate is an absolute gem; under current restrictions, fortunate locals are the only ones allowed to visit (January 2021). When restrictions are lifted, I can not recommend this place highly enough, especially for families with children. I did not come across a better place in Dublin to teach children about agriculture in Ireland. Airfield dairy was the place where my children understood how milk is produced by watching herd being milked. The real bonus was that afterwards; we tested the same fresh, creamy milk in hot chocolates made in the farm's coffee shop. Besides cows, the farm has goats, sheep, pigs, hens, chickens and few donkeys. Under current circumstances, the farm looks COVID safe and organised with one system flow, signposts and plenty of hand sanitisers. Take away tea, coffee and snacks are available with staff most of the time friendly. There are beautiful small forest and lake walks and plenty of activity playgrounds for children. Zipline and tire swing are the favourites with my children. With the current safe one way system in place, it takes about one hour of a slow pace to walk all the accessible grounds, but if the weather permits, I would allocate at least 2 hours as there is so much to explore and experience in this beautiful place.

This is a nice place there is no disputing that, it’s gardens are lovely and the grounds are very well kept. But where they get off charging €20 for two adults... it’s a complete waste of money. If you want to walk nice grounds and look at flowers do yourself a favour and go to the botanical gardens, it’s free! We brought our daughter thinking there was a farm. She was bored in two minutes. There were hardly any animals to see other than a few goats, sheep and cows. The place was like a ghost town. Mostly all the cafes were closed. They were in the middle of building a festival but didn’t mention this on entry. Then we were asked to leave an area we thought was a part of the farm because of the festival. In conclusion if you’re bringing kids to see animals don’t bother go to Glenroe farm the interactive experience is great there and the play facilities are too. If you want to walk around a garden and see the occasional cow but have to pay €20 for the privilege then Airfield is the place for you. Please airfield if you are mostly closed and you’re organising a festival tell people on their way in and maybe don’t charge people for this experience! Seriously what is the €10 for everything was closed!!!

Airfield Estate was a dream venue to be married at. My husband and I had an elopement ceremony outside in the walled garden and it was amazing. The grounds are filled with beautiful greenery - wildflowers, large trees, and flowing grasses. The main house is full of character and detail. Everywhere you look there is a unique setting for stunning photos. The event planning team is friendly and professional, and effortlessly coordinates each small detail. From the very first call they (thank you Eliza & Sinead!) were excited and helpful. This was very important as we were traveling from the US and had never seen Airfield Estate in person. They communicated and happily worked with our photographer and celebrant and were present the day of our ceremony to provide extra support! The on-site patisserie chef and florist created a beautiful bouquet and cake to add to our intimate celebration. We were so impressed not only with the location, but by the care and detail the entire Airfield team puts toward your special day. Airfield Estate goes above and beyond to make sure your wedding day is perfect! Photos: Jasna Pasalic Photography Celebrant: Ceremonies by Elizabeth
