Activate Waterford — Attraction in Waterford

I went to Activate today for my son's birthday, I did not book a party, we were just having a small get together of my two sons and my two nieces for a little celebration. I booked online and paid €40 for 4kids and two adults. My youngest son has multiple allergies so I brought a cake I baked myself that was dairy free, egg free and nut free (he's allergic to all three) it was a tiny cake wrapped in tinfoil. Upon arrival at the desk I was questioned by the manager or owner (I'm not sure which one) what I had in the tinfoil, I explained it was my son's birthday and my other son has multiple allergies and I baked a cake for the kids to share that was allergy free (kids ages 1,2,4&5) I was immediately told I couldn't bring it in, I explained my son's allergies etc and i was told absolutely not that they had cakes with lists of ingredients that I could choose from (later on I saw the cakes in the counter with no wrappers on them, no ingredients listed and each exposed to contamination with no dairy free,egg free or nut free options) i was told if he left me bring in a cake that he'd have to let everybody bring in their own cakes...even though it was 1pm on a sunny Tuesday and there was about 4 other children in there. He was only worried about loosing money from a cake sale rather then concerned that my child could be exposed to nuts and have an anaphylactic reaction. This whole business is child based and they don't have any concern for the kids that are making them a wage. Allergy mothers have a hard enough time going to places like this without it being made harder because you can't bring in a food that you know is safe for your child to consume, iv never had problems bringing my own foods or cakes into any establishment after I explain my sons allergies there was no allergy friendly treats here or food options other then chips. My son was upset that we couldn't sing him Happy birthday and have some cake so after the soft play we had to drag 4 small tired children back to my house so they could have a piece of cake. My eldest daughter is 12 and iv been coming here since she was little. I won't be back. I was treated like I was trying to smuggle drugs in. Had my son's birthday party in Activate today. There was 13 kids including the birthday boy. While serving food they didn't bring food for 3 kids, and served it later. Finally when I went to pay they took 14 kids pay from me. When I enquired about this the girl at the front desk told I ordered for extra food portions that's why. When the manager came to the area, he noticed me talking to the girl at the reception. He said its fine and gave me back , the extra money taken for 1 child. I heard the girl at the reception telling the manager, there were 15 kids , and 2 extra food were served. I told them I don't want to take the money back, unless they check the camera and make sure there was only 13. Manager told its OK. But I still feel like , they gave me the money back as an offer, instead of an entitlement. It's 21.50 for one child. The manager and all the staff were really nice and helpful, but that girl at the reception wasn't pleasant at all all along and wasn't nice to deal with. I want to give 5 star review, but each and every staff is responsible for a business. She should change her attitude. I don't usually go in and write review for anything, but I felt like a thief today , by the way she pictured me to the manager, saying there was 15 and I purposely didn't include 2 kids to scam them. 1 staff can ruin the entire business, as I am never going back there anymore. I took lots of videos and photos of the kids while they were there, which clearly shows 13 kids. I still suggest activate as a good place for kids and the person who helped the kids with laser tag...

Activate. Where do I start, well I should start by saying It has the only Bowling Alley in Waterford that I know of anyway, overall It's great sometimes the Software kinda freaks out and glitches a little also don't do what me and my friends did and get the Bowling Ball stuck in the gutter It's really embarrassing. So the Bowling get's my thumbs up of Approval.

The Laser Tag is so much fun don't even get me started sure It's just a scaled down version of LaserBlast in Tramore but I still have so much fun and instead of that big chunky armour you shoot the gun instead so it just is nicer to do personally.

The Mini Golf is actually depressing. I know it's just for the small kids but why include it if it's pointless. We got it for free because the Laser Tag got delayed. So the holes are short and super easy and clearly they didn't care enough about it.

I didn't do the climbing wall yet but it looks pretty complicated so if your into that stuff give it a try and let me know please. I also didn't do the Rollerskating Rink yet so it also looks depressing but I can't say anything yet because I didn't do it.

Now this part is going off when I was a young boy. I used to go to the Kidzone part of it and from what I renember It's a really fun place for those little kids of yours to run around.

The last thing I wanna say the Logo is kinda ironic being that it has a guy sitting on a recliner drinking a hot drink but underneath it says ACTIVATE. So being active it sitting...
