דיר א סולטאן, הכפר האתיופי הוא אולי הכפר הקטן ביותר בעולם. נמצא מעל כנסיית הקבר. הנזירים האתיופים המאכלסים את הכפר נודעים בצניעותם ובטוב ליבם. הנזירים האתיופים השיגו את המקום עוד בשנת 1760 אבל במרוצת השנים נדחקו על ידי העדה הקופטית המצרית וכל נכסיהם נלקחו מהם. נסיונותיהם לחזור אל המקום בתקופת המנדט הבריטי והשלטון הירדני נכשלו ורק כשישראל הצליחה לכבוש מחדש את ירושלים הם ביצעו מחטף מהקופטים המצריים והתנחלו במקום. מדינת ישראל סירבה להתערב בסכסוך ארוך השנים בין שתי הקבוצות למרות שבהסכם השלום בין ישראל למצריים התחייבה מדינת ישראל כלפי המצרים להחזיר את החלקה לקופטיים. המנזר האתיופי במקום...
