Let's start with the positive. The beach is long, close to the city and covered in nice white sand. The water is shallow and most of the time warm too (depends on the currents, I guess, sometimes it's really cold). Ideal for small children. And the negative. IT'S DIRTY AND SMELLS LIKE ROTTEN EGG. It's full of rotten sea grass, the water, the sand, everything. There are huge piles of rotten sea grass next to the beach, I guess that's where they damp it when the beach is cleaned once a week. The sand is not good to lay in, as it is covered with dry, rotten sea grass. Not good for sandcastle building as it is full of rotten sea grass. After 3 cm there is a thick layer of rotten sea grass. The water is full of rotten particles, not clear, and smells like sulfur, feels like swimming in a cow dang solution. The locals are rude, there was hardly a day when they didn't shout with our children for building sand castles or walked cross our towels or even feet. They claimed that you have to keep 5 metres clear from the sea (of course in Italian, 90% of the people will not speak English, in shops, restaurants, etc.), but there's no such rule displayed at the sign at the entrance of the beach, and apparently it is not valid for them, as they can put their umbrella camps wherever they want, or their chairs for that matter. There's no public toilette or shower, or even a feet wash, very few bins and no shade whatsoever. Not sure of the reason, I suspect it's because of the rotten seaweed, 9 of us developed different skin issues during 7 days. Rashes, eye inflammation, mouth sores. Naturally none spoke English at the pharmacy but at least they were helpful. The medical service they recommended was rated to 1.6, so we rather wait to get home. Can't help myself, I need to mention that the streets around the beach are full of garbage, as they don't take everything from the streets, you can't walk or push a baby stroller on the sidewalk as they park there, the cars will not stop at the pedestrians crossing, unless you throw yourself in front of them and they will often shout and wave at you. My daughter was nearly hit, when a car got bored of my family's crossing and wanted to drive away between us. Cyclists and electric scooters will ride on the lungomare although they have a dedicated road next to it. They won't stop at the pedestrian crossing either, of course. Definitely not...
Read moreI don't like to give negative recense but i like to be objective: POSITIV: beach is next to city and is nice vide for walking and has nice landscapes, some bars. next to some bars are wc, changing cabins and some have showers (i dont know if free or you need to pay) but still mising some public showers and wc.
NEGATIV: LOT OF SEA GRAS!!! what is on the beach and IS SMELLING AS SPOILED EGGS!!! No public showers and wc only nex to bars.
the beach has big potencial and could be wery popular if the city would care more about the beach (cleaning with tractor as in Lignano) and building some public showers and wc and next to entrence som wather for drink or foot wash... after the tourist dont need to think where to go and would stay more in Alghero...
GOOD OPTION: go on the next beach 20-30min by walking i dont know why but there was almost NO SEA GRASS ( SPIAGGIA...
Read moreIt's okay. A lot of seaweed but a crazy long shelf keeps the water shallow for ages, which is great for kids. Close to town, which is lovely, but also the smell of town wafts regularly over you. No toilets or facilities, but definitely the smell of toilet comes in powerfully at times. Depends which way the wind blows, and it does blow qt times, poweffully so. A few bars and stuff, pretty expensive but I guess that's beach life. A lot of free area but also paid chairs if that's how you roll. The waters are surprisingly cold but you get used to it pretty quickly, unless you're my wife. Good enough...
