We arrived pretty early for dinner on Alghero time - 8pm. There were plenty of free tables available, and they sat us immediately. We were feeling good. Me my wife and our three young kids (6yrs, 4yrs, 11mo). Once seated we needed a few minutes but then when they were able to come back over to us, we ordered three very basic pizzas. I will include the pictures in this review. You tell me how long these should take to make.
We waited probably 45 minutes to an hour and then we started to see people who had definitely come into the restaurant after we had ordered, start getting served their food! At this point our 11mo and 4yr old had fallen asleep, and we were kind of done with it. Also at this point, the restaurant was pretty busy, but I asked our waiter or one of the other staff if we could just get our pizzas to go. Boy was this upsetting for the resturaunt. I don't know if it was the language barrier or what, but they got very angry. At some point here, our four year old woke up at the table, she's exhausted she's crying, we just want the food that we ordered an hour ago put in boxes to go. They told me it would take another five minutes or so.
But i'm wondering, why does it take an hour and five minutes to cook a margarita pizza? So I ask if they'd even started our order yet. Back at our table, I get a lecture from our waiter in broken english, very upset that I had implicated him and insinuated that he had forgotten our order! That it was the pizza kitchen's fault and not his. It was his job on the line. But i've got sleeping and tantruming kids and I just want my pizza and I want to get out of there. Still I don't like the idea that this guy thinks I was throwing anyone under the bus. So I went back in (stupidly) to try and explain to the manager that I wasn't pointing any blame. I just am happy to have the pizzas and go, but I guess the manager or owner must not speak any english and he assumed the worst and he starts yelling at me, and yelling at my wife, and he yells something about how his restaurant is not a McDonald's! That is extremely rude and very insulting. I'm not sure what high level of culture background this guy comes from, but where i'm from if you own a restaurant, you don't go around yelling stuff like that at your guests, especially not after you've made them wait over an hour three basic pizzas. (I now see the other reviews mentioning rudeness and must be my experience with the manager or some wait staff (not all!) was not unique.)
The kids did enjoy the pizzas which we ate in our hotel room now, but I would strongly suggest not going to this restaurant. It wasn't that good.
This restaurant was actually the recommendation of our nearby hotel and the first thing we did was go back to the front desk and let them know that they should never recommend this restaurant to anyone.
There are many places to eat in Alghero that are far superior to this, and every single other person we have met in this great country, has been wonderful, kind, and good humored. Don't waste your time with this spot.
To the owners response: No one treated your staff poorly. All I did was ask for the food to be boxed up after we waited an hour for our three pizzas. You responded by getting red in the face waving your arms rolling your eyes around in nashing your teeth. It was extremely threatening.
When one of your "hard working boys" came up to me and lectured me about insinuating that he had not put the order in, he clearly came up to me after you probably yelled at him blaming him! I'm guessing you are the one treating your staff that way. Everyone else in the restaurant that night saw you basically throw the pizzas down in front of me. You throw pizzas in front of me and you yell at my wife, I could have walked out of there without paying it all. But it wasn't like I was going to hand you money with you waving your hands around like that and yelling at me.
Either way, your excuses are ridiculous. You treated us like crap, and everyone else in the restaurant saw it. It...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant fe weeks ago as a family of four and unfortunately had a rather disappointing experience. We were seated outside on the corner near the street, where every time a car passed, it hit a loose manhole cover, creating a constant “boing” noise that made the atmosphere quite unpleasant. It took about 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. After placing it, we waited another 20 minutes for the starters to arrive. To make things worse, the main courses were brought out while we were still eating the starters. Instead of clearing the table properly, the waiter—a young man who seemed to be new—simply placed the main dishes next to the dirty plates. Eventually, the plates were cleared, but we then had to wait again for clean cutlery to arrive, by which time our food had already gone cold. We also ordered a salad that was forgotten. When we mentioned it, two salads were brought out instead of one. One of the main dishes we ordered was the Fettucine all’Astice, which unfortunately was extremely salty—almost inedible. We mentioned this to the waiter, but he didn’t respond or offer any apology. Toward the end of our meal, another waiter came by, seemingly more focused on chatting with a friend through their AirPods than attending to guests. It felt quite dismissive and unprofessional. The service felt disorganized, and while the staff were polite at times, the overall experience fell well short of expectations. The location could be charming, but the combination of poor timing, lack of coordination, inattentive service, and the noisy seating area really impacted our...
Read moreSo where do we get started? We sat at the table and a waitress came to us to take our drink order. After 5-10min another waiter came and took our food order. We ordered beef, grilled salmon, octopus salad, salad with tomatoes and mozzarella and spaghetti ale vongulle. They served my mom a glass of wine which was nice, but mine was different and it was terrible because the previous wine was finished. Than the big waiting begun. We waited hour and a half for everything. There were tables that was seated after us and got served first. We asked the waitress about the food and she told us “5 more minutes”. It took 10 more minutes for the food to arrive. The was food was nice but the spaghetti with clams was too salty. The grilled salmon was raw so we returned it. It was disappointing because we waited soooooo long. Overall the staff was nice and friendly and they even offered us another glasses of wine. They really need to work to speed up the work in the kitchen because the...
