Panoramic 360° View at Summit! Having arrived at Marina Grande by boat, we took a shuttle bus, at €15.00 per person, that would take us first to Anacapri and two hours later to Capri. The decision to take this bus was economical and wise, as it optimised our time on the island, considering the high cost of a taxi or time lost in queuing at bus stations for a ride. At Anacapri, the bus dropped us at Piazza Vittoria. After walking about 150 metres we took the chairlift, that in 12 minutes took us to the summit of 600-metre-high Mount Solaro. The chair-lift cost was €11 per person. The ascent, while in the chairlift, with feet dangling over the edge of my chair, was an exhilarating experience overlooking fabulous views over Anacapri and the blue sea in the distance. We passed over multi-coloured wildflowers, small vineyards, houses and gardens on the way to the top. The 360-degree view of the island from the summit was simply breathtaking in its beauty on that clear morning. While on top, we took some photos with the limestone rock outcrops Faraglioni in the background. There are restaurant and toilet facilities too at the summit. We spent about an hour at the top walking, exploring and enjoying the breathtaking scenery before returning to the chairlift for our descent. This was my highlight...
Read moreFor me, it was all cloud but still managed to see the panoramic view of Capri. Locals often refer to Monte Solaro as the "cloud catcher" after the thick blanket of fog which forms around the summit, especially at dawn.
Wanna experience Capri's most beautiful panorama? Well, you need to come here. Monte Solaro is the highest point on Capri. it is 589 meters above sea level and the highest and most panoramic point on the island. The easiest way to get to Monte Solaro is by chairlift. I have explained it in my chairlift review. in short, take the bus from Capri to Anacapri, take 12 euro up down ticket to the chairlift and within 12-13 minutes, you will reach Monte Solaro.
Once you reach the peak, you can relax with a drink on the rocking chairs at the La Canzone del Cielo café or simply stroll along the scenic overlook and snap pictures. Looking around in a 360º panorama you can see the whitewashed houses which cover the hillsides of Capri Town, the three rock stacks called the Faraglioni lying off the coast ( you will see this on the internet photos) and the Bay of Naples and the islands of Ischia and Procida. There is also a ruined 18th-century fort, the...
Read moreThe views from this peak are amazing. More amazing though, was the ride to the top via chair lift (ski lift for a single person). If you're afraid of heights, it could be a little challenging. The lift tops out around 25 feet or so above the ground, but for the most part stays closer to 10-15 feet. The ride was simply beautiful. It passes over local farms and forest while giving you an amazing view of Anacapri and the rest of the northwestern part of the island. From the top, you can view the entire 360 degrees of the island. It's high enough that you are above some of the clouds. There is a free, sizable bathroom at the top as well as a restaurant (which we didn't try). There were also hiking trails going both to the far peak across a ridge as well as a path all the way back down to Anacapri which looked like they would be a lot of fun. We took the chairlift both up and down. Definitely worth the money despite the annoyance with taking the local buses (they are often full or run extremely late with long lines). We highly recommend taking a topless taxi (most of them seat 4 in the back) for 20 euro (don't pay 25) to and from Capri to AnaCapri if the...
