Rotonda della Besana — Attraction in Milan

One of my favorite places on town. Despite its somewhat sinister history - it was originally built, in the renaissance, as the hospital for those sick with the plague, outside the city walls - it is now a quiet, secluded and always relaxing place, a few minutes' walk from the bustle of the fashion shopping district. In the garden between the outside wall and the small central building one can sit, read a book or just relax, the only noise coming from the children that run and play and jump...

Awesome little restaurant called the Rotonda Bistro in the children's museum. The service is great, fast and super welcoming. (You can still see they are a bit amateurs but their effort has a certain charm). The food is really good, was actually not expecting such quality. But the patio is what it makes it all. Very quiet and peaceful. The prices have a good quality/price ratio if you consider the food cost and the area....

Entrare alla Rotonda della Besana per un aperitivo è come immergersi in un angolo di campagna in città. L’atmosfera è tranquilla, la luce del tramonto gioca tra il colonnato, il prato risplende Basta un bicchiere di vino per rilassarsi e dimenticare tutta la giornata di lavoro. tra i tavolini all’aperto ci sono coppie con il cane e amici che si ritrovano per un saluto, ad affascinarmi è l’eleganza innata e il silenzio di questo spazio. Il complesso comprende un portico e la chiesa sconsacrata di San Michele ai Sepolcri. L'edificio è stato originariamente istituito per servire come cimitero dell'Ospedale Maggiore. Nel 1787, sotto la dominazione austriaca, i cimiteri furono spostati fuori dalle mura della città e la Rotonda fu soppressa. Nel tempo questo spazio è stato adattato per una serie di altri usi fino ad oggi. attualmente utilizzata come parco pubblico.
