Enoteca Grotta del Brunello is a delightful find nestled in the heart of Montalcino. Located within a historic wine cave, the establishment offers a cozy and inviting ambiance, complemented by a charming outdoor seating area that allows guests to soak in the picturesque views of this medieval town.
During our visit, we indulged in traditional Tuscan dishes, including pici pasta served with beef and another with duck. Both dishes were expertly prepared, boasting rich flavors that highlighted the authenticity of the local cuisine. The house wine, a selection of Brunello di Montalcino, was exceptional and paired wonderfully with our meal.
A standout moment was ordering a gin and tonic, which was served with a regional tonic water, enhancing the drink's refreshing quality. The staff's attention to detail and commitment to showcasing local products added a special touch to our dining experience.
Later we learned that Enoteca Grotta del Brunello is renowned for its extensive selection of Brunello wines and its dedication to providing guests with an authentic taste of Tuscany. We wish we had tried some of their unique wines. We highly recommend...
Read moreOne of the best meals of our trip. We did not notice this restaurant beforehand on several apps like google, trip advisor and thefork perhaps because it came up with the name “Wine Bar Grotto del Brunello.” So maybe we assumed they serve wine and snacks only and we were looking for a dinner reservation. Anyway, while walking around the charming town of Montalcino we stumbled upon this place and decided to do a wine tasting and bruschetta snack before dinner. After tasting our appetizer of polenta cakes with truffles and duck prosciutto, we realized our oversight and looked the place up specifically on google, quickly realizing they do serve dinner (starting at 7pm) and that it is the highest rated place in town. Well that high rating is well deserved, bravo. Our pasta entrees of spaghetti with duck ragu, and parpadelle with boar ragu were also amazing. Added bonus for the very reasonably priced whole black truffles in jars...
Read moreQuite surprised by the good reviews. We decided to have a late lunch here with a glass of wine. Upon requesting a very minor change to a dish in the menu, (just swapping the pasta type for a different one available in the menu), we were told “We can’t change the dishes from the menu”. It came out as a bit unpleasant and rude, especially as it was a very minor swap & they already agreed to remove cheese from the bruschetta’s we ordered. The pasta’s that arrived were very mediocre in taste, tomato sauce tasted like it came from a ready made jar available in generic shops & the penne was way overcooked, considering we are in Italy, the quality was shocking. Cacio e Pepe was decent but not the best we had. Would only recommend the truffle bruschetta’s & the wine. Definitely won’t...
