A Powerful Journey Through History – “Spazi Parlanti” at the University of Padua On June 2nd, in celebration of Italy’s Republic Day, I had the privilege of joining the “Spazi Parlanti” tour at the University of Padua—a deeply moving and enlightening experience that blends architecture, symbolism, and resistance. We began in the *Cortile Nuovo*, where statues of *Minerva* and *Palinurus* set the tone, representing wisdom and the courage to navigate through life’s uncertainties. Climbing the *Scala del Sapere*, a symbolic staircase depicting the intellectual and moral path of the student, we reached the upper floor and entered the heart of the university’s historic soul. The *Rector’s Gallery* and *Atrium of Heroes* reminded us of the institution’s role in both academic excellence and civil courage, particularly during the fascist era. The university’s stance shifted from initial alignment with the regime—marked by the introduction of ideologically driven curricula and the enforcement of racial laws—to a stronghold of resistance. The legacy of *Concetto Marchesi*, whose bold call to fight during WWII still echoes, made it clear why this university is the only one in Italy awarded the *Gold Medal for Military Valor*. The tour continued into the *Aula Magna* and the evocative *Sala dei Quaranta*, where we stood before *Galileo Galilei’s original lectern*, a tangible link to centuries of groundbreaking thought. We concluded the tour at the *bronze doors* near the entrance, where the final sculpture of *Palinurus* served as a poetic end—reminding us that knowledge and conscience continue to guide us through the darkest of times. This tour wasn’t just a walk through stunning spaces; it was a vivid reminder of how learning institutions like Padua carry forward values of *freedom, integrity, and resilience*. A must-see for anyone who loves history with a soul.

Second oldest university in Italy (operated since founding) and Nr. 4 in Europe (probably in the world) - amazing building, history and exhibitions...worth paying to see not only the impressive outside with its amazing decorations and inscriptions but also the anatomy study room, the library and all the other parts of the inside that you can visit with a guide (also in English). Worth the money. Also for groups, families and with children....so much to learn, so many pictures and incredible all the students that were here (also some famous ones like astronomer Copernicus, poets Torquato Tasso or Pietro Bembo, womanizer Giocoma Casanova (worth to read him and not only watch the movies about him:), Erasmus of Rotterdam (famous writer and philosopher, worth also to see his museum), humanist Vergerio, Harvey (discoverer of the circulation of the blood), the Polish poets Klemens Janicki and Jan Kochanowski, Ugo Foscolo - poet, Franciscus Skarina - the father of Belarusian literature or also very important and interesting: Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia - first woman in the world to graduate in a university, in 1678.....so you wont regret it! Sapere aude et iocari.

For a while now, I wanted to visit the University of Padua, due to its long history and contributions to the cumulative knowledge of humanity. Finally I had this chance. The main building was really nice and picturesque with lots of sculptures, ornaments and paintings, however, we were told that it's not possible to go visit upstairs. Maybe it's because of a specific event or sth but it was a bit disappointing.

Read my story and avoid: this Uni is like cancer.

Horrible and dreadful experience. I am a graduate student enrolled in a course that is offered jointly by both University of Padua and University of Venice. Apparently, even though I had been assured my study plan had been approved, it is nowhere to be found in Padua's learning management system. Some 5 months later I was informed it was up to me to communicate it to the other host Unviersity (what?!). This resulted in a second process of enrollment (so that now I have two e-mails, two student numbers, two study plans, etc.).

Even so, my study plan is nowhere to be found. Now it's June and I would like to take some exams, but I am unable to do so. Consider I enrolled because of some bureaucratic requirements for teaching at high school (requirements I don't meet because I have lived in Australia for quite a long time). I spent 2000 € in fees but the most basic features (such as: ability to enrol in a subject and take the exam have not been implemented.

After talking to other fellow students, it turned out student services don't read the e-mails they receive and hardly ever answer the phone. In fact, even the Uni call centre was unable to help and suggested me to include the word "URGENT" in the object of my e-mail, with the hope of catching their attention. So far, not even the reception of my e-mails has been acknowledged. I work 40 hrs a week and do not understand: if I do have the time to make a phone call, how comes an entire Facutly is unable to respond? We are 8 months into my course, for Heaven's sake... and my career depends on it.

Never again. I don't even understand why, after so many years abroad, I allowed myself to be scammed by such an...
