Porta Marzia is inserted as a blind arch in the walls of the Rocca Paolina, a majestic sixteenth-century architectural work extending over the vast neighborhood of Colle Landone, the southern relief on which Perugia stands.
It was the monumental gate located at the southern end of the Etruscan city walls, at the entrance to the city from the Via Amerina, extended to Perugia around the middle of the 3rd century BC, strengthening relations between the city and Rome.

Read more…era il più importante accesso alla città di Perugia!!…una porta cittadina della fortificazione muraria etrusca!!…si dice che quando fu edificata la Rocca Paolina!!…un certo Antonio Sangallo…la smontò dalla sua sede originale e la incastonò nel bastione!!…la porta è molto bella e importante!!…si presenta con sopra una loggia con cinque sculture in pietra arenaria!!…si pensa che sia Giove e i rispettivi cavalli!!…da questa Porta Marzia!!…si accede a una zona molto particolare di Perugia!!…la Rocca Paolina!!…che dire!!…proprio una bella Porta Monumentale!!…è Porta Marzia...
