Our destination was the old town of Sirmione, but there are only few expensive hotels. We considered an alternative variant – to stay in one of the neighboring towns such as Peschiera del Garda, but it would be too long journey from there to the center of Sirmione, which isn’t convenient for a one-day visit. The hotels at the entrance to the Sirmione peninsula (on the south of Colombare) were even cheaper than in other towns on the shore of Garda, while the travel time to the center of Sirmione is shoter. So we chose Fiordaliso hotel!||What we liked: ||+ Our room was completely new and clean (furniture, sanitaryware, decor), as if we were the first guests of the room after renovation||+ The room and the bathroom were nice, bright and comfortable (with many sockets, 2 mirrors, hairdryer)||+ Wi-Fi worked without problems||+ At the reception we got a map of peninsula and the information about transport, surroundings etc.||+ Hotel is situated in a quiet area of the Sirmione peninsula, parking was free right near the hotel||+ The historical center of Sirmione can be reached by foot (about 10 min) and then by bus (another 10 min) – it’ s not very convenient, but remember that you save a lot of the money instead of spending them in the expensive hotel in the center of the town and meanwhile don’t spend a lot of time for the trip. ||+ Garda Lake is situated not very far from the hotel, there are walking promenade and a beach (although it’s better to choose another place for a beach holiday)||What we didn’t like:||- The biggest disappointment was a breakfast. During covid-period there was no buffet and we asked for having breakfast in the room. So we got actually one portion of food for two guests, we weren’t informed that it was possible to ask for an additional food (otherwise we would have asked for it immediately) and the juice was offered only when we gave back the empty dishes.||- The light and the extractor hood in the bathroom worked on photocells which was very inconvenient - the light turned off at the most inopportune moments (we had to wave the hands standing under the shower) and the extractor hood made a noise for another 10 minutes even when there was nobody else in the bathroom||- There was no fridge in the room, but there was a TV (we would like to have a fridge instead of TV)||- Poor noise isolation between the rooms let us make out what language the neighbors spoke||- The problem of mosquitoes (as everywhere near the lake) wasn’t resolved with mosquito nets on the window, but with electronic repellent which was very old (in a just renovated room!) and seemed even unsafe to use||- There was also a hole in the bed linen – another strange thing in the renovated room||- We booked double room with one matrimonial bed but there were two single beds pushed together (probably there are no double rooms in this hotel)||- Some days before check-in the hotel block the payment on the guest’s credit card (in our case it was all the amount cause we stayed there for only one night) – it can be inconvenient especially for the foreign tourists during the epidemic period. And in general the price we paid in the period of "closed borders" was high (hotels of Venice in the same time...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences I have had in my life. We booked the hotel, all payed for, and started our journey to go to the hotel straight after work. The train that was taking us to Milan broke, and by the time we arrived in Milan, there were no more connections to Sirmione. We let the hotel know: We had to find a hotel in Milano to spend the night, and the next day we would head to Sirmione. The next day we woke up, went to see Milan's church since we were already there, and went to the station to get tickets to continue our journey to Sirmione. To our surprise, when we get in Sirmione station, I get a notification from Booking.com saying the hotel had cancelled our stay. We head there anyways, since we had nowhere else to go. When we arrived the man at the front desk simply told us it was cancelled and that we should talk to Booking.com. We tried to talk to him that everything was already payed for, and that there were still rooms available in the website for the time of our stay, if he could find us a room. The guy started screaming at us, expelling us from the property, threatening to get physical, saying it was cancelled, to take it to Booking.com. We tried talking to Booking.com, and they told us he was ignoring their calls. The hotel had a non refundable policy, which when we read we understood that if WE cancelled our stay, there would be no refund, which we were fine with. But if THE HOTEL cancels your stay, they also get to keep your money. Booking.com was not helpful over the phone either. And that's how we lost around 450 euros to a hotel we...
Read moreMy husband and I spent 1 week here in July. It's located in a quiet residential area, with parking. We were greeted by Giuseppe upon entering. He had a nice sized map of the area and showed us many attractions and information on visiting. He showed us to our room. Up to the 3rd floor, on beautiful marble stairs. I will add that the place always smelled amazing. The breakfast is amazing! Salami, ham, cheeses. Eggs, done any way you'd like. Delicious veggie omelettes. Yogurts, puddings, breads, cakes and the list goes on. The lady who takes care of all the tables is amazing!! Often in Italy you don't find many who know other languages but he was able to take orders in English and German. She was so pleasant and we enjoyed seeing her in the mornings. The housekeeping ladies were very nice and our room always looked great! We were always greeted with a smile. ||There is a nice area right outside the breakfast room where you can enjoy a coffee or a drink. Beautiful with bright colors and very clean. ||Nonna was fun to talk to you and shared a great place to eat. ||Would definitely stay here again if...
