Isola dei Pescatori (meaning Fishermen’s Island) is an island in Lake Maggiore in northern Italy. As the most northerly of the three principal Borromean Islands it is also known as Isola Superiore and, with a population of 25 in 2018, it is the only one to be inhabited all year round. Unlike Isola Bella and Isola Madre, the island has never belonged to the Borromeo family. The island is about 375 metres long by 100 metres wide. A narrow street running along its spine is joined by cobbled alleys to the promenade that encircles the island. The promenade is frequently flooded and the houses built against it are constructed to allow for this. The church of San Vittore (Victor the Moor) retains traces of an ancient chapel that was probably constructed for the monks of Scozzòla (an abbey of San Donato di Sesto Calende founded by Liutardo, bishop of Pavia, in the mid ninth century. The church was previously dedicated to S. Gangolfo (Gangulphus), whose veneration is linked with the Abbey of San Donato.

Molto bella e caratteristica, si intuisce che sia viva e abitata tutto l'anno a tal proposito credo che sia il meglio di sé e fuori dalla stagione turistica. Avendola visitata nella settimana di ferragosto l'ho trovata affollatissima, si incontrano più ristoranti che abitazioni, la caccia al cliente è spietata e rumorosa, a tratti nei suoi piccoli vicoli può risultare claustrofobica. I prezzi sono di tutti i tipi, ma tendenti all'alto. Al di là di questi prevedibili problemi resta un'isola bellissima e davvero caratteristica, unica nel suo genere sul Lago Maggiore in quanto ne rappresenta un aspetto popolare e quotidiano rispetto alle altre isole invece hanno tutte un'area esclusiva e aristocratica, inaccessibile ai più se non come vetrina dei desideri (a pagamento).

L'isola dei Pescatori conosciuta è l'unica dell'arcipelago delle isole Borromee nel ad essere stabilmente abitata. Sorge sul lago Maggiore in comune di Stresa ed è caratterizzata dalla presenza di un piccolo borgo di Pescatori con caratteristiche case a più piani, una piazzetta, vicoli stretti, il lungolago e la via principale. Tanti ottimi ristorantini che culminano nell eccellenza di un ristorante 2 stelle Michelen, il Verbano che si affaccio sul lago che sembra un mare. Unico neo negativo la gestione di una toilette pubblica gestita, nel nostro caso da una persona impertinente e maleducata. La mia recensione non sarà redimente ma credo che in un luogo turistico, la gentilezza debba essere un must, anche sulle isole Borromee

Nice island. It was heavy rain when we went but still nice place. Expensive and some cafes are rubbish while charging high prices. Microwaved lasagne which was cold in the middle and beef ragu where the pasta had dried out and was inedible

Île très bien pour y manger Pas contre y allé pas avant 11h Pour y manger et après faire l'autre île à partir de 14 ou 15h Sinon vous attendez sur l'île du pêcheur pour rien Vous ne pouvez pas faire l'autre île Bella et revenir ensuite sur l'île du pécheur Il vous ramène à Stresa Où manger sur Bella On mange mieux sur l'île du pêcheur Attention plat sans légumes Il facture les légumes en plus Ainsi que 2euros 50 pour le service par personne en plus Choisir restaurant côté inverse du port Trop bruyant pour manger Dommage pas gâtée par le temps le matin après beau temps dans l'après midi Prix du bateau correct 15 euros Visite du palais et des jardins trop chère pour moi Donc juste visite des îles
