I visited the Church of San Lorenzo in Venice on Jan/8th/2024 which was exactly 700yrs to the day that Marco Polo was laid to rest here. Unfortunately the church was closed to the public due to extensive renovations inside …BUT… I was kindly granted entry briefly in order to pay my respects.

There is a sign by the church: open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:00 to 12:00. We were there on Wednesday and although they let us in, we were informed that it is a private building, not for visitors (information should be confirmed). Interestingly, according to historical documents, Marco Polo's grave should be there, unfortunately, despite searches, the grave...

Every time we go to Venice for Biennale we find ourselves more impressed with exhibitions in this church/gallery than with anything Biennale has to offer. Plus, the staff working here are extremely motivated and friendly. Couldn't recommend more - one of the best places in Venice. Will come...
